"You do realize that "uncirculated" or "mint state" refers to the coin's condition and not the manufacturing process."

Sorry - but in this case it does, at least as far as Uncirculated goes. Mint State is a numistic term, uncirculated is a manufacturers term for the coins. The mint never issued "proof" coins in certain years, and finding a "proof like" coin for those years isn't going elevate them to proof status. A 3rd party grading of the coins issued by the mint is just that - a 3rd party grade. PCGS or any other grading agency is looking at the coins issued by the mint. They can give it whatever name they want, but 10 years from now when you look it up in a grading book or reference the historic information regarding coins released in 2013 - there will be Proofs - Bullion - Uncirculated - and in this case an Enhanced Uncirculated coin...

As basebal pointed out - the mint is the expert on the coins they issue. If they deem these uncirculated (which they could decide is not correct), then they are going to be issued as uncirculated.

I'm not sure I will get one of these sets due to the price. I feel like we are getting fleeced by the US Mint. While they are beautiful coins, I feel it is just another way for the Mint to make a profit and they know collectors will go after them.

I'm in for one raw...plus one graded 70 if the early premium is reasonable.

I'm w/John1 on the looks of this coin, the reverse somehow looks better.
The obverse has the look of the painted ASE's for some reason -
that being said, looks like the possibility of a few errors slipping
through with a new design in the works?
That would be awesome -

I think the weird look is more a combination of something new and it being a picture of something with a lot of contrasting looks. But you are right some have been painted in a similar way. Theres definitely a chance of some errors coming out with this one, I've never had any problems with west point coins though so their quality control may be good enough to catch them unless of course you believe the mint does those intentionally from time to time to drum up interest

Have they determined a price yet ? Or are people still speculating.

I hope they are the same price as the 2012 set, if so I'm in for 2 sets.

Kind of like the secondary resellers attempting to make bullion coins - uncirculated. You can advertise them all day as uncirculated, but at the end of the day - they are bullion coins.

Wrong. As stated, ALL coins are uncirculated until they go into circulation. The bullion coins are quite clearly uncirculated coins. They also ARE MS coins as that is the term used to grade uncirculated coins. It is NOT based on how the coin was produced. I could, if I got lucky, pull a MS68 White Mountain quarter out of one of the mint rolls as well as pull one out of a mint set. Coins that are produced and handled far differently, but are both MS68 coins.

Clearly this coin is NOT a standard proof coin. So arguing about whether it should be called a proof or not is rather silly. he mint actually is using the best term. Enhanced uncirculated actually describes the coin perfectly.

Really? Last time I checked the mint was in business to make money, both figuratively and literally. They do not operate as a charity or non profit organization. So YES, it most certainly IS another way for them to make a profit. Thinking otherwise is rather naive.

And using the term fleeced here is completely wrong. Definition as used... to deprive of money or belongings by fraud, hoax, or the like There is no fraud or hoax here. You choose to buy or you don't.

They still haven't set a price for this set. Any guesses out there? I want to say it will be the same as last year, but they did increase the cost of the other 2013 silver coins, so maybe $159.95.

$156.95, if the benchmark is still the price of the 75th Anniversary set. $179.95 is more likely, but that is pushing it by the Mint and starts veering into gouge territory. Ideally with the price of silver hovering around $27 lately, $126.95. That is still nearly a $75 premium per set, and after overhead and other expenses it is at least $50 profit per set.

If they price it at $126.95 - I'll get 3 sets! I am guessing based on the proof price of $62.95 and the sells they have had... it will be more like $139.95 to $149.95 (with the $149 being already established in past sets).

Ill guess the same price as last year which would be an increase with the drop in silver.

Yup...I'm with the $149.95 crowd....and I also think they will end up minting enough to make it a routine set (numbers wise) with minimum upside price potential...still a nice set but not one to go all goofy over.
