Wish the image was a little cleared but I think it might be the emperor Gallienus with the reverse of PAX AVG.

Hmm...I think its earlier than Gallienus and almost certainly Provincial. Id say Gordian III, Phillip or - the chin looks about right in the photos - Thrax.

I have to disagree I see no signs that it's a provincial coin, no center dimple and from what few letters I can see on the reverse they appear Latin and not Greek. I also see what appears to be a beard visable under the chin, Gordian III did not wear a beard. I do agree that it's probably not Gallienus, that was a guess based on what I can make out of the bust. I think that a larger and clear image is needed before we can come close to finding out who it is.

Looks very much like Gallienus to me. I am thinking that it is an As of Gallienus which very often had little or no legend as the coins tended get 'reduced' faster than the dies ! If it is then it is a rare and desirable piece.

Thank you... I'll see if I can take some better photos. The 100k file size limit is a pain in the butt. I have a total of 18 coins that were found in Tampa Bay.

If you crop the background off of the photo, that should help trim the file size down some.

I tried to clean up the images a bit but I couldn't make them any larger. Looking at the coin now, I think it might be Commodus or Lucius Verus.

I am hoping the color in the last photo is 'due' to the lighting and that he didn't do something regrettable. I am inclined to think you may have. DO NOT CLEAN !! Unless you are sure about what you are doing taking something possibly valuable and messing it up is a bad idea.

The weak chin and slight overbite still say Gallienus to me. Sometimes first impressions are right echizento.

FR, you are probably right. My first impression was Gallienus.
