My first GSA CC Morgan came in the mail today. 1883 NGC graded MS 64. I got poor results with a camera but surprised how well my flat scanner worked. I'm totally new to VAM but it looks like a VAM3 to me. The dash under the second 8 was a dead give away. If anyone thinks otherwise or has anything additional to add by all means let me know. I'm working on a mintmark and decade set with another coin on the way.

Nice GSA Morgan! It appears to be a VAM-3 to me, also. Any signs of letter transfer?

Very nice. I have one but it is not NGC graded. I almost busted mine out of the GSA holder. Good thing I didn't.

Stick around. We hope to see more of your finds.

Dave700x, I'm gonna have to research what letter transfer is. Would that potentially make it a different VAM?

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I appreciate it.

IRONBRGDE here are a couple of reads on letter transfer,http://www.coincommunity.com/us_mor...is-a-vam.asp and http://www.vamworld.com/Attribution+101.

Letter transfer if present on your Morgan could make it a VAM3A.

Out of curiosity, IRONBRGDE, what DPI did you use for the scan?
I have no camera, only a scanner, and I have been using 600 DPI.
Then I crop the picture, resizing it if needed using this site's resource.

Sample of my scan:

Awesome coin and congrats on the GSA.

I am not a Morgan dollar fan but hope to find as nice as yours some day for history's sake.
