Last box of pennies for the day. Didn't pull as many keepers in this box but there were a couple neat finds. Found 4 more wheat cents including a 1926 which is a hole filler and now makes 101/140. Also found a 1936 Canadian which is my 7th George V found so far. Other finds were 1956(2), 1955, 1952 (nice condition with a bit of lustre), 1950(2), 1947ML, 1946, and 1940.
I also found a 2 eurocent coin and a 1976 cinco centavos Mexican coin which I quite like.

Not sure if this counts as a crh find but I got a bag of modern Trinidad & Tobago coins from my bank for free! Inside were over 200 1 cent coins, and almost 100 5 cent, 10 cent and 25 cent coins plus a us Roosevelt dime

So, how do you ask for those coins?
I'm never sure what to say, but I did once get some nice modern world coins (2011 Indian rupee, 2010 Netherlands Antilles 25c, 1993 UK 1p, 2000 South Africa 1c, 2009 PRC 1 jiao, Mexico 1995 10c)... and I'd like to repeat the experience.

Well I have a really good connection with 1 local bank in my area and I asked for foregn coins once a year ago and they said they didn't have any and they asked my why, I told them I am a coin collecter and they said they will keep an eye out. Now whenever I walk in they usually have 1-2 coins for me but this was a really great score. This is the same bank I can sometimes get a box of pennies from. I read a post on CCF a while back about a guy in the us who found a gold coin (a quarter eagle I think?) in a box of foregn coins he got from his bank. I'm still waiting patiently for one of those finds.

Went through 110 rolls of cents today. $20 from one bank and $35 worth from the other. Found 22 wheat cents with the oldest finds being 1923, 1920(2), 1918 and a heavily worn/corroded 1909. The 1923 is a hole filer and makes 102/140 LWC's. Found a 2 pfennig, a British new penny and a 2009 Canadian cent with a planchet flaw. Older Canadian finds were 1938, 1940, 1944, 1947ML(2), 1948 and 11 from the 1950's.

The gods of numismatics have been smiling on me lately, I swear, during the same visit to the bank where I picked up th 1954 $100 bill I also got $8.50 worth of cents. Most of them were pre-1996 and of those I scored approx 80 MS-60+ cents dating between 1973-1979. To all you newbies out there feeling frustrated, don't give up. With persistence you too will find good scores. I almost quit after one particularly bad experience with one of my local banks. I'm glad I didn't.

Got some rolls from the bank. I explained that I go through them and pick out American and foreign coins, plus nickel nickels because some people will buy them. The teller seemed supportive! 1 box of nickels (2,000 coins): Six Laureate head nickels, only one 12-sided one. However, I did find two very shiny 1964s... probably MS! No XWL, but I set all 1964s aside just in case I missed it once and I need to re-search them. I got 113 nickel nickels total... so about one in 20 nickels is a nickel nickel. Are you sick of reading the word "nickel"? Rare date count: one 2000-P , three 1991s, no 1970 (!). This count seems pretty typical. 44 American nickels, I found three notable ones (two commemoratives and one shiny new 2013). So I have now found three denominations of 2013 American coins in 2013 proper. Belize coin! It's just aluminum, but hooray for foreign finds. As for quarters... $60 in the things (240 coins) resulted in 5 American ones: 1965, 1978, 1996, 2000 New Hampshire-P (upgrade), and 2002 Louisiana-P (I didn't have this one until now!). What's rare is that all 5 are from Philadelphia... because in Alberta, I get mostly Denver coins. I also found 25 non-colourized Canadian commemoratives, and 11 colourized ones. I am saving these because they are very popular with overseas swappers

I wouldn't count on that 1970 for a while, I've been through a dozen boxes without finding a single one. My only post 1960 hole in my nickel album. I haven't searched nickels for a few months maybe I should give it a go again. Anyways, good luck trying to find a 1970.

I visited Canada recently and came back to US with $92 of nickels and $10 of cents. It was very hard to get cent rolls from any bank. I begged one bank and they gave in so I was able to get $10 worth. They said they were supposed to ship them to Bank of Canada.
I found about 120 of US cents in the bundle. 1x1947ML, 3x1951, no lucky on the pointed 1985 which I was hoping to find. no hole-filler this time.
For the nickel, I did find a 1970 for my coin folder; but no 1967 rabbit which is the other coin I need. I also found 27 US nickels from the pile.
I did not ask for dime or quarter even though banks are willing to give out. From posts here it is very hard to find silver dimes or quarters in Canada. I did ask for half dollar or old large size dollar coins but no luck. It seems to me that it is much easier to find US half dollar in US than Canadian half dollar in Canada.

I got 10 rolls of nickels today, with good results...
85, 100% nickels, 1 king George VI, 1947, 6 other 12 sided (2 from the 50s), 4 other young queens, With all this talk about the 1970, I happened to find one! 1, 1991, 1 dime (2012), and 9 Americans (1 hole filler).
I'm glad I didn't get quarters this time!
