I'm not in Canada but in North Carolina, U.S. I just found a 1947 Maple leaf penny. First George VI Canadian cent for me. I've found a Canadian dime with him, however.

Thanks for sharing. Based on volume it is a lot harder for Americans to find older Canadian pennies than vice versa.

Went through 52 rolls of pennies today with older Canadian finds being: 1941(2), 1945, 1950, 1953, 1955, 1956(3), 1958, and 1959(2). Found a 1994 Canadian with really strong wood grain toning on the reverse (improper alloy mix) and 4 US wheat cents. Also found a bunch of other foreign coins including a 1975 British New Penny, 1997 10 cents from Hong Kong, 2001 Polish 2 Grosze, two Polish 5 Groszy dated 1993 and 1999, and three 2008 50 ore from Norway.

I can't remember how long it's been since I came across a King George VI cent. When I was CRHing penny rolls in NY State ten years ago, I was encountering four to six cents Canadian per roll. This was not near the border either, but downstate......near the tripoint of NJ/PA/NY.

Everything was in fairly average circulated condition. The 2 euro cent was from France.

SlurExe97 asked:
I have about 30 of them various dates. They minted voyageurs in 1987? I thought they switched to the loonie.

Loonies were made in 1987 but the voyageur design was made for one more year in 1987 - but not for general circulation. I got a Proof '87 last year on ebay for just under $6 including shipping.

Last week I picked up $44.50 of CDN cent rolls. My teller called me and left a message to pick them up if I wanted them. After sorting them, got two 1920 and one 1936 King George V cents, about 3 rolls of King George VI cents, 3 rolls of American Wheat cents oldest from 1930's with two steelies from 1943, about 8 rolls of young QEII laureate obverse cents (1953-1964), about 10 one and two eurocents, two 1966 Australia cents, one 1973 Barbados cent, and about 30 rolls of copper cents 1965-1996 CDN cents and pre-82 American cents. Most rolls had a little of everything in each. Must have been an old cent jar accumulation that was recently rolled up and deposited. Best cent score I ever found! Even found three dimes mixed in too. After half way through, I was half expecting to find an Indian Head cent or two but unfortunately I didnt. CP out.😃

I got $500 in loonies for a change. I got a nice 2012 old style, and a 2000 loon, which was not meant for circulation. Dollars are pretty quick to search.

Just sold a guy a $25 face value box of CDN copper cents for $50. He needed them for a table top project. Funny thing, I've sold boxes of cents over the past half year to a guy who invests and hoards copper and to an artist who needed them for an art project. Where are all the collectors? 😊

the collectors are the smart ones and know that you can occasionally still get em from the bank, my bank calls me when they get pennies... it saves them paperwork, I got 4 boxes last week, they were all searched but I later sold them on Kijiji and got $250!

Picked up 25 rolls of pennies at the banks today. Didn't find too much, a couple Canadian from the 50's, two wheat cents and a 2 Euro cent. Also found a 1970 with a very small clip.
