Hi CCL! The four boxes of CDN cents you sold for $250, were they a mix of copper and plated coins? If that's the case, should I sort them but keep them all to sell to those who want copper or just regular, modern CDN cents up to 2012 ? Should I sell them for the same price? CP

Hi all. I thought I'd try my hand at roll hunting so I could fill out a long neglected collection. I came home from the bank with a box of quarters and dug in. On about the fourth roll I pulled a '56! Beginners luck, I suppose because that's been about it. I managed to fill from '68 onward for the most part with notable absentees being the '70, '91, '92 caribou, and a couple from the '92, and '99 series. Box 2's only interesting find was a 2000 WP caribou that someone must have broken from a set. Box 3's only new addition was a coloured womesn's hockey. Also filled out most of my nickels from 20 rolls. Still no '70. Working on a box of dimes right now.

That's awesome, I have not found any W coins at all, so good pick up. Don't forget to look for the 99/2000 caribou as well as any 98's or 97's as these all were only made for sets.

I found a 1998 quarter in a roll and did a happy dance.
Good find tusker! I have never found a "W" myself either. I do get the occasional 1970 and 1983,as well as 1968 silver.

wolfman, try looking at other people's change. I found a 2003W looking through a friend's change. A silver quarter in another person's change.

Well, I made it through my roll of dimes last night and netted one of everything from '68 onward minus the '70 and any unique stuff (large dates, P's, W's, etc.). They are tough to handle and read so I think it will be my last box. A question for the rest of you... how often do you go to the bank for fresh stock?

I go to the bank(s) everyday, about a year ago I decided to ramp up from doing ~ $200/week to ~$3000/week ( mixed Pennies, Nickels, Dimes, Quarters)I found with that # I have to turn my $ over about 4 times a week.
This morning on my way home I decided to ramp up again to $6000/week Which means I will probably be dumping everyday.
This week I scored my oldest dime, something I did not think I would ever see, a nice 1919 being sterling silver it is awesome, I love this design. I also found a proof 2013 nickel from one of the sets, it literally jumped out with the frosted cameo.

I've tried my hand at CRH before but hadn't had any real luck; no silvers or any neat foreigns (mostly just US/UK). Haven't done any in a while now, but this week I've got a bit more free time than usual so I thought I'd pick up a few rolls of dimes. Wouldn't you know it, on my third roll, out pops a 1942! In decent shape, too.
Also found a Cuban 5 centavos (1998) and an Eastern Carribean 10 cents (2007).
I'll be stopping by the bank again tomorrow to get some more!

Just a tip. If ever you scrap a car check the cracks for pennies! I scored two dozen and assorted other change to sort

Searched a 50 roll box of dimes and found some decent keepers. A 1967 Centennial dime, a 50% silver 1968 dime, and a 1959 90% silver American Roosevelt dime. Also found about 2 rolls worth of American clad dimes and an Australian 2005 5 cent coin. Usually I consider a good box when I find at least on silver.

and a proof yes a proof Silver dollar, 1998 RCMP silver dollar pulled from a set, sterling silver baby. YAH what a score!!

Lucky you ace! The bank nearest to me won't give out anything the tellers think are "non-circulating", so I can't get any more nickel dollars, halves, or old paper money. They don't even give out customer wrapped rolls, always the new ones. And the second nearest is farther and close earlier...

Picked up 42 rolls of pennies at the bank today. Finds weren't very good but older Canadian finds included: 1939, 1943, 1958 and 1959. Also found a 1974 1/2 New Penny and two 2 Pfennig coins (1974 and 1976). In the reject tray was a 1967 Canadian dime.
