I have seen them with just a sliver of Bareness, but I still saw the horizontal striations. I think it was CC-Ottawa (maybe some one else) said he wrote an article in regards to this variety. unfortunately you have to have a subscription to the magazine to read it.
I think that the die was in various stages of decay, but it is a really neat variation. I am now setting my eyes on the 96 attached 6.

It's SPP-Ottawa who wrote the article. I have access to the most recent two years of the journal in my library. They seem to have more but they're in storage and I need a request form for them.
Edit: Just checked and they seem to have the journal from 1956, but in storage.

Hello all this is my first post. I reside in the Vancouver area and have been crh pennies and quarters for the last three years. I am currently getting about 200$ a month or more in pennies from 7 or more banks. I only dump american 70s and newer pennies. I keep all canadian pennies except stained or heavily damaged ones. I estimate I currently have about 250 boxes of date sorted rolls of pennies collected. I crh about 300 dollars worth of quarters a month, keeping only commemortive and pre 2000. My madness was started by my father who began his collection before I was born, I'm in my fifties now and will receive his collection as my inheritance. I love searching rolls and reading what others have found.I'll start with one of my best finds being a 1931 bu dime found in a roll of pennies about a month ago. Keep on lookin.

Thanks Rackster. I have a big problem with my Canadian storage so I am sticking to Canadian collecting, but I do have about a dozen of those merc dimes, some siver halves and will get about 250 morgans from dad. He got them at face in 64 from a casino payout in Vegas. I picked up 40 rolls of pennies from two banks today and will go through them tomorrow. "My eyes hurt and my gloves are black"

Indeed I know what you are talking about - eyes are red! I enjoy finding Canadian money in circulation here. Over the years, I've found some very nice specimens and promise one day to put them in an album or two...or four. Not rolls and rolls like you, but enough of each denomination to make a decent effort. I just completed a box of cents here and found 16 Canadian cents, oldest being 1966 and AU 1980. My eye strain comes from variety hunting but although I'm aware of Canadian varieties, I'm not savvy on what they are just yet. So on that rainy/snowy day, I may do my penance and look them up! In the meantime, I snoop around here to take in the great finds my neighbors to the north are scooping up! Here's my best Canadian find -

Thats a nice 1920, I only have one in my variety set and am still missing a couple early 1920 yrs. Thats even rarer to find that in the US. Sounds like we are just on the diffent sides of the border doing the same thing with opposite currency. I often wonder whether I should keep all these cnd pennies now, as storage is getting hard. Our mint is doing its best to destroy them and I feel like I'm rescuing them sometimes. If my daughter wants she will receive the fruits of my labour. I have found around ten rolls of mixed wheats that I just roll and put away. Have no idea varieties either, like you, one day I will check them out.

Tonight I had a fantastic night... in an effort to put together my gift for the Secret Santa exchange I decided to break out the gear, boxes and bins and start a bit of CRH'ing myself.. I was only 1/3 of the way into the box and have enjoyed every minute of it so far.
I get boxes of nickles from my bank that uses their own change machine... so I end up taking out a lot of pre-82 nickels as this bank doesn't ARP their change machine..
I have also found a few BU 70's coins and the earliest date was a '41 ....
Also to add to the "world collection" was 2 barbados nickles and one 5 cent euro from Ireland....
Felt great to get the fingers dirty for a little bit... which reminds me... I gotta get some more blue nitrile gloves.. (does anyone else use these when CRH'ing? I hate the dirt and mess on the hands personally)

Hey denny7000 Welcome to the forum!
I know what you mean about the early 20's they would be a treat to find.
I only need 5 more small cents to have one from every year.

Nice wolfman! I'm not familiar with which dates are harder to find amongst Canadian cents but I suspect you have 89/94 of the small cents? That's fantastic. I was down to the last 18 LWC/LMC/LSCs here before I began buying them at auction. Just not likely to find in the wild. That said I did find a 1909 VDB in a roll after I bought one a few months earlier. For me, what Canadian small cents would be considered a good find down here (I'm in New England)? Any ideas anyone?

1 am still looking to find 1922, 1923, 1924, 1925 and 1930 to make one of each year. I have only some varieties so far. I can't bring myself to pay $20 for a penny yet, so I will keep looking...

Yes wolfman my missin list also includes 1922, 1923,25,26,27,30 and 31. I wont pay for them either, I do like buying proof and specimen singles when I find good deals at local shows and coin shops though. At the last gathering here in vancouver I found a guy selling some au-bu penny rolls for 2$ a roll and was able to coax 25 rolls at 45$ from a tool box he had just bought but not looked at.I picked up a 1975 and 1976 bu roll, 3 1963 bu rolls 4 1965 bu rolls and seven 1961 bu rolls. All the other rolls were mixed with ef george and ef young heads, I think I did alright.
Rackster when I'm roll searching pennies I like finding 2006 no logo no P magnetics and 1985 pointed 5s, I've found a bunch of them but I looked at a lot of pennies to find them.
