Took out $300 (12 rolls) of loonies. Got two hole fillers: 2010 loon and 2006 loon no logo. The only spot I'm missing is 2003 old portrait and I'm waiting for the 2015s to roll in (puns). I put back the commemoratives into their own roll just for fun when I return the rolls; maybe someone will get a kick out of it.
Also, I got a couple of minor upgrades; I really need more upgrades from 1995-2010 or so. It seems that the few coins that retained most of their original shine has toning, permanent fingerprints, or both. How does toning affect the value of loonies? Better, worse, or indifferent?

I used to coin collect, but I took a break for two years, but back then, I found almost a complete roll of UNC 1970 nickels, and I didn't think much of them, but now that I know better, I put them all in 2x2's and stashed them away. How much does a UNC 1970 nickel cost? I know that it was a low mintage date so I'm wondering if it's worth a fair bit.

Any of the 1970 coin carries a little more premium as there was a strike at the mint that year. I think there was a little over 5 million nickels made that year. Good score finding some uncirculated ones.

oh wow I did not know that about the 1970 nickels! really interested. I have found about 5-7 unc 1970 nickels! the mintage of the 2000p is also similar to 1970 nickels!

Charleton says 5.7 mil 1970 nickels minted. There was also a strike in 1991 and the quarters from that year are very low mintage less that half a mil. I have never found a circ 1991 quarter, I have bought one.

Great silver dime n3xtgen! Lots of coin roll hunters take out multiple boxes and get nothing. That's some good luck out of only 20 rolls of dimes, especially for your first time.

First complete box of dimes in a long time, out of 2500 coins no jackpot finds but:
33 US dimes 1973-2004
4 UK five pence
2 silver - 1963, 1968
and one stiff back with two stiff shoulders, lol

actually I do usually five rolls of dimes and quarters at a time.. even though the tellers and I hate those clear plastic coin holders, they are great for scanning for US dimes and quarters. I just ask her what she has for rolls, she pulls them out and I look for the ones with the telltale copper rings on the edges. Buying the box was just a splurge, and afterward I filled up the missing dimes with new Canadian ones, rolled them back up, marked the rolls for myself, and took it to a different bank to get my $250 back. Put the $3.30 US and UK 20 pence in bags for my next trips, and the silvers in the junk silver jar.

I didn't mention finding a wonderful Cdn 1971 dime (wish I knew grades better, but the field was almost mirror like from no dings, considering its age.) That one was an upgrade for the album.

To find any dime from the 70's that isn't beat is a treasure. Even 80's dimes get pretty roughed up.
I got a 1941 nickel in my change last week, not a roll find but from a store.

I used to search cents and still search 5 cents rolls. I decided that I would shake up my routine and got 30 rolls of quarters. From those I ended up with one 1968 silver, one 1970, 7 RCMP and six USA. I am not sure if this is good or not but I think for the cost and volume of coin, I will stick with the 5 cents.
