The 1970 is a low mintage year and silver is always good.

I would be excited with the '68 silver and the '70, as they are not easy finds anymore. I think nickels are the most fun to search because the ARP has affected them the least so far. However, sometimes searching other denominations once in a while can be rewarding and interesting.

o I picked up 4 boxes of quarters yesterday, and with my past metrics, it takes $1400 to get 1 silver quarter (not great stats).
after 3 boxes I had 2 silvers so I was thinking this was going well and my ratio is going up.
I opened the last box, and the very first roll I opened up shocked my, there was 14 silvers in it. ( my previous best was 13). I was totally amazed.
after a few more rolls with nothing, I got another, and then another then I found the mother load, I found one with 24 silvers inside, just amazing.
In all I found 6 rolls with multiple silver quarters inside.
here are the totals:
29 1968 50% silvers 59 80% silvers (3 were KGVI)
Have any of you ever had a box like this? whats the best roll you have found?
its really crazy because last weak I found no silvers, I was contemplating focusing solely on dimes. I doubt I will find another stash like this in a long time.

Didn't have any luck with silver on 5 rolls of each denomination, but did find this specimen dime...

Quote: wolfman-11, that "red" 1985 5-cent you posted last month is fascinating. It is not a plating error (Cu-Ni alloy) and looks fully struck in collar.
Has anyone ever taken a closer look at that one? Quote: SPP-Ottawa: The red nickel does have silver colour in patches, I will take some better photos later and put it in my album. Just bumping this one back up... have you posted photos?

SPP-Ottawa: Here are the pics. The edge of the rim is red about 3/4 around.

This evening I picked up 10 rolls of customer nickles of which I managed two complete roll of pre-1982 oldest being a 1961. I also picked up a roll of quarters that ended up being completely American . The roll of Toonies and dimes were a bust.

Too bad. The "market" is flooded with those that have the Jubilee portrait. It would be cool to get other years. Have you ordered any Voyageurs? I am interested in this obverse for a 2002 50¢. Did you get any of these?

Sadly, no, they were all with the jubilee portrait. I did manage to get 100 dollars worth of voyageur dollars though, mostly from 1986, but a few from 1969-1985 too.

Quote: I just found out, I can order voyageur dollars and 50 cent coins from my local rbc branches... You guys would love my bank... I often deposit 50-cent coins in bags of $100 face value and nickel dollars in bags of $200 face value. Of course, the errors, high grades and scarcer varieties have already been culled. But my "culls" (MS-64 grades and less), could be someone else's treasures... Being in Ottawa, however, I am assured that my deposits are sent directly to the Mint for the alloy recovery program, so I'll never see the same coins again, unless a roll-hunter or hoarder gets to them before they are shipped out...

Stopped by the bank to get some quarters, hoping to build a stock of the commemorative ones to trade with others around the world.. I just ask for CWRolls when she says "I just got these from a collector, said he's had enough".. I see the bottom and they are all Olympic quarters! 5 rolls, good start to my stock, most with nice mirror finishes, and no work! Alas no coloured ones, but also got a bunch of Breast Cancer coins, 2004 Bravery, 100yr Annivs of AB and SK, plus 2 lonely 2000 Community coins..
