tristen1230,
Some confuse the store catalog with the catalog available for the public. The public catalog is the one I receive through the mail as a Philatelic customer. There is usually a stack of them on the counter/shelf that anyone can pick up.
The store only catalog is for management eyes only. It gives order dates and discount rates. Some CP outlets don't want you to see this one.

@MoneyPenney - She showed me that one. It had all that info like release to them and then release to public order dates etc.

This has also created an issue with information dissemination because CP employees are leaking new release weeks in advance.
Definitely an issue, but hardly a problem unless it is also coupled with those same CP employees being able to get to the front of the line, offer the coins before anyone else, and this results in a large portion of the mintage being allocated to CP sales before others even know about it. There would obviously be a lot of potential for kickbacks and abuse there.

It's a problem because the Mint's best customers (MC members) are left in the dark while CP employees are aware and are leaking information to their friends. Sometimes, the details of that information makes it onto coin forums (though not this one).
So CP employees and their friends know when to buy new coins. MC members do not and are notified a day or so after the release. That is a big problem because it leaves MC members at a huge disadvantage in terms of buying very hot new coins.
The mint could avoid all of that by simply announcing new releases publicly when they allow CP to produce their internal documents.

This was one of the points I made as well as many others in the survey, your post early in this thread, hit every point I made as well at the end of that survey. It is clear, everyone seems to be mentioning the same issues because it is a problem for all the MC members.

The mintages are such that this should not be a problem, unless a huge portion of the mintage is already accounted for before MC members even get access. The butterfly went Awaiting Stock online in 90 minutes under MC. Had all the MC members known in advance and things made available to all MC members online and by phone at the same time, then what would have happened? And, those with reps and access to the CP sales would have still had their orders in before the MC members. So, there would have been a much bigger and fairer stampede to the same number of coins.

Where can you take this survey. Is it just random?

like I mentioned before, how hard is it for the RCM to control its own dealer network. The RCM seems to want the new releases leaked by CP creates a frenzy and let their loyal collectors fend for themselves. No other dealer network operates this way, maybe this survey is a start for some logical changes. There is some people who must have very many mc accounts.

The RCM sells-out on certain coins no matter what, so how is it at all beneficial to them to create the feeding frenzy, and a pile of angry customers? I'm sure there are those that refuse to buy other coins on principle that they have been totally shut out of the hot coins. The flippers won't touch the other "trash", and so in the end the RCM is losing total sales by this nonsense, and does not benefit from the huge pop in secondary market prices.

i agree that the butterfly was going to set out no matter, but the frenzy caused the moon coin, maple, 5 oz. queen to be sold out in days, but in the process created many unhappy mc member thus the survey yesterday.

Well I definitely should be available to all MC members because I am sure most MC members who missed out would like a say. I did not miss out but I would also like a say for the future.

Doesn't the RCM also set aside a portion of the coins for general release availability? Surely the RCM must know that it's only good business practice not to alienate a large purchasing public. As others have echoed in previous posts, what might make things more equitable is to control CP so they can't presell any coins until the same day as the mint release. That way everybody has a fairer chance of securing the coins they want.
