I was left about 500 coins from a private collection, all quite recent of mixed origins but I was able to identify them in two nights at the PC, until I came to this one. It is nothing special, an early milled coin by the look of it, about 27mm diamter (just over an inch), copper/bronze/brass, but it has no western script on it and the Islamic date appears to be about the equivalent of the early to mid 1800's. Weighs about 6.25g, and I expected it to be from Tunisia, Libya, Iran or Iraq. Or maybe India, Pakistan, or neighbouring countries. But I've run out of ideas. Anyone help me?
Excellent, thank you very much. I'm sure I'd checked "Yemen copper coins" on google images and nothing looked the same. I will look more carefully in that direction now. Many thanks, Mark
