A rare Canadian error, except for coins dated 1969. I just got this one in the mail, and am very pleased with it... Would a strike like that stop the machine? Or would it self-correct? Any good sites for video of the process ?
By the way---GREAT coin !

Is there any known reason why 1969 coins with this error are not rare? Gorgeous coin by the way!

I believe there is speculation that some mint employees had a little fun after hours that year.

Quote: No thoughts of another showcase set? That would be nice, but I have a LOT of mint state 1-cent errors (14 inch, double row box), and at over $50 per slab with PCGS (the cost of certifying and grading error coins), it would drain the coin budget drastically. Also, unlike big errors like Zonad's Victorian errors or my mint state nickel dollar errors, certifying 1-cent error coins does not really add value to them, unless they are MS-65 Red or better grades. I may take the top twenty-five 1-cent errors (like off-metal strikes, or drastic errors like this one), sometime down the road, and send them in... for now, CCF is my showcase.

I think comments about mint errors being "helped" by mint employees is generally much over used. This example of a 1962 flip over on center double strike error is a type that can and does occur by accident at both the Canadian and US Mints. With that said, there were times when errors were assisted.

BTW, very nice coin, especially since I like on center double strikes with great detail.
