Terrible Box Of Pennies - Coin Community Forum

crazyforATB Valued Member United States 449 Posts	Posted 04/15/2013 9:20 pm I just went through a box of pennies, and I have never seen anything like it. probably 40% of the pennies are zinc rot/corroded. and they are really bad, about a dozen of them were even crumbling, hundreds are completely covered in the green sulphate stuff. and they weren't necessarily old a lot of them had the union shield. it even felt nasty touching them, thought on what happened?
