The surge, if it comes, has to happen either in today's posting or tomorrow's (or both). Last year the surge started with one week to go and peaked at the equivalent of today (at 3PM EDT). Last year at this point, 217351 sets had been ordered and the equivalent of today's post brought the total to 245131, so that is the number we are looking for today. I am going to go ahead and predict a final order total about the same as last year because I think that is about the actual demand for coin sets of this type.

Doug58s: Goldmart is currently offering presaling graded 2013 set: $290 per PR70/MS70 FS set graded by PCGS and $240 per PR70/SP70 ER set graded by NGC (it's on their front page). This is cheaper than MCM.
So, in comparing prices: Goldmart at $240 + $9 shipping is still cheaper than MCM $290 + free shipping. Note: MCM doesn't have PCGS sets available yet.
A strange twist: MCM is offering the 2013 set in the same NGC black core (Retro Holder) for the same price as the standard white core. The only different the line "NGC 25th Anniversary" is being replaced by "NGC".
Note: The NGC black core (Retro Holder) was introduced and promoted last year to celebrate NGC's 25th Anniversary and it has "NGC 25th Anniversary" printed on the bottom of the front side of the label. This black core type was supposedly limited in quantities and ended on December 31, 2012.
So, my questions regarding this twist: Is MCM went to bed with NGC for this special treatment? Why NGC doing this? I am searching online and see on publication/notices regarding the extension of the Retro Holder to 2013. Am I jumping the gun or is this bad business practice by NGC?

Ill post my response here too in that its possible NGC is still doing it for bulk submissions. MCM is also close to them I believe so its possible NGC is trying to get more of their business from PCGS. Its also very possible MCM is getting special treatment considering they give them A LOT of business.
I like the black better and think they should switch to it, but if you say somethings limited you lose credibility when it turns out its not

Today's order total (243226) has fallen behind last year's total for the same relative date (245131). It looks like the year that will have the lowest final "mintage" will be left to the returns to decide. We will know the final order total on Friday (that will include the last two hours or so of sales that won't be published tomorrow). I guess I will place my last order now. I already ordered two sets and I want five total (one for each family member).

OK,
I'm ordering two more raw set.
I'll order at least 1 of each graded set (NGC/PCGS) after I sell my duplicated graded sets of 2012 (on my to do list).

This sets already hot on ebay. Raw sets are preselling in the 180 range, the NGC 70 sets are preselling in the 350 range and the pcgs 70 set have had a couple sell for close to 500

Thanks baseball21. However, listing price doesn't really count. Sold price is what matter.

251,695 as of right now, or 3 PM E. standard time today.
I like how the 69 sets are priced at 169.95, that's like providing the sets to the customer at cost.

SA4H those were from sets that sold. Granted theres listed ones that havent sold yet or are still bidding but the ones that have sold so far especially the graded 70s are getting pretty good premiums

Just for fun, I ordered a couple of extra sets at 4:54 PM EDT. The mint will publish the order total tomorrow at ~3PM ET. Last year, 564 sets were ordered in the last two hours. I find it amazing that the tow sets (2012 & 2013) will end up within about 1% of each other in terms of sets ordered, pretty cool.
