Im starting a collection of all proof silver $2 coins from 1996-present. I already have a few coins to get me started, but I was not able to find accurate mintage numbers per year for these coins.

Based on my assumption that all of these $2 are pulled from the 8 coin proof sets, I used page 284 of the volume 2 charlton collector and maple leaf issues to determine the mintages.

However, there are a couple years that have different designs for certain coins, so I would also assume that I would just add that set mintage to the overall year and get the final mintage for that entire year.

Is this correct? Or are these $2 coins coming from a different source. Sorry if my post was confusing lol.

Check the $2 section and it should tell you if any were issued as stand alone coins for a particular year. Otherwise yes, if there are two set designs in the same year (and the design difference isn't the $2 coin!) then just add them together to get the total for the year. I think I still have a few spares lying around so PM me if you like.

perfect. I think the only single issue was the 1996 proof, which I also found in the same charlton guide. Gave me an exact description of how much ASW is in the coin, which was good to have as it would help determine how much I'm willing to pay haha.

PM sent :)

The 1999 and 2000, were both issued separately as well. I was considering doing the same set. It's a neat set, small, but somewhat pricey IMHO. Some of those seller for $30-#40/ea.

A couple of notes:

It is quite difficult to find high grades for a few years.
Prices are high because a lot of the coins were melted
I have 3 complete sets (including the #1 PCGS registry set) and am assembling a fourth.
Remember that 1996 is base metal (nickel) and one of the 2 proofs struck in 2012 is also nickel while the other is the only solid silver in the series
In my opinion, a complete set would include the 4 gold proofs and the piedfort.
