I have a 1909 full sovereign with the following marks.
Obverse -DS under the head.
Reverse - P to the side of the date with a mark in front of the P which I
cannot read.
I would be grateful for any information where it was minted etc.

Those are designer's initials - George W. deSaulles did the obverse and Benedetto Pistrucci the reverse. You will find those marks on all 1909 sovereigns.

The mintmark is in the exergue line (the ground-line the horse is standing on), above the gap between the first 9 and the 0 in the date. In 1909, your mintmark options are C (Canada), M (Melbourne), P (Perth), S (Sydney) and no mintmark (London). The Canadian one is by far the scarcest; all other mintages were in the millions, with London mint being the commonest.

A picture would be most helpful... But the mint mark location on sovereigns is above the date in the "ground" between George and the dragon and the date... With a 10x loupe it should be clearly visible (I can see them with my naked eye but many people say you need a loupe to see the mint mark)

The D.L under George and SP (BP maybe, but I believe it's an S) are the designers or something, not 100% sure but nothing to do with the mint.

Here's a list of the mints-

London, no mintmark.
C = Ottawa, Canada
M = Melbourne, Australia
P = Perth, Australia
S = Sydney, Australia
I = Bombay, India
SA = Pretoria , South Africa

Here's an example of where to look for a mint mark.. If there is nothing there it was minted in London.

Hope this helps.. And I'd love to see a pic of your coin! Which mint did it end up being from?

*edit*- of course in the time it took me to type someone already answered.. O well, I tried.. Lol.
And I should mention that yours cannot be from Bombay or Pretoria as India only minted them in 1918, and South Africa from 1923-1932..
