Hi all, I thought it might be fun if we would post a photo of our favorite or unusual banknote, domestic or foreign. So pick one you like or think is unusual and post it. Let's see what we can come up with. The note I picked is a $1908 $10.00 Silver Certificate. I chose this note because of the design of the portrait. Instaed of being a round they put the portrait in a Spanish style window opening. Then.. they never put the name of the person at the bottom..! http://www.angelfire.com/super2/cat...bum?i=20&s=1catman Edited by catman 12/06/2005 4:26 pm

Sorry Catman, I still can't post a photo but this note is so popular I don't need to! The 1901 $10 Black Buffalo is tops on my list! The last one I owned was stolen from a display, along with all 1899 issues of the $1, $2 and $5, when my coin dealer was robbed. I wasn't smart enough to write down serial numbers or phootgraph the notes so they are gone forever. And, to make matters worse, they have gone up in value so much I don't see myself replacing them anytime soon.

Hey ND,
That is a real unique note. I never saw one before. What is the retail price for those..?

If memory serves me, I believe that we sold this note for $45 or $50. I absolutley loved the odd denomination. I am giving classes at one of the local banks on these obsolete notes, and the average person is completely shocked when they see 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9 dollar notes.

ND you should post any and all notes you get in that price range as there are many here who would probably take them of your hands. I know I am big on the unusual, when I can afford it, regardless of the condition as there is so much we never get to see any more! Thanks for the look at a great piece of history.

As soon as my schedule clears, I will post many coins and notes for sale. I have been stockpiling them for all the forum members. It may be the first of the year before I truly have time to devote though, so please be patient.

If you don't mind me in this Forum? My favorite is not the most popular of American Currencies. It's the Colonial Currency. Mine is only a Two Dollar Bill. It's also not the strangest in denominations now either. If you would like as soon as I can I will send a Picture if you would like?

I have seen this post sitting at the bottom for a while. For the younger members that do not know the original poster of this particular thread, he was one of the GREATEST assests to this community. A "collector of the arts" would be a more appropriate term. I decided to bump this thread back to the top to see what the new members could post to keep our memories alive. Additionally, here is the ONLY foreign note that we have....therefor, to me, it is the strangest/most interesting design. Image: bill1.jpg50.3 KB Image: bill2.jpg42.12 KB

Thanks Kid. By the way, I feel that you may be able to shed some light on that bill that I posted above. I know that it's of Arabic origin and that it's One Riyal...but that is all I know. Could you help me on this one?

Hmmm... It's Saudi Arabian 1 Riyal.
Not very old, I'd say Mid 1990's

Thanks! I was looking on ebay and saw one like it...the seller labelled it as an 1981...maybe a typo...but at any rate...thanks for the heads up on the correction!!!
