I was checking a 1963 nickel I purchased some time ago on ebay and I noticed the five in 5 cents had a pointed 5 or re cut 5. I was wondering if anyone on this site would check your 1963 nickels for similar varities. Here is a scan of the coin.

I don't know where there would even be a "5" at. My 1963 nickel has only the word FIVE on it, no number 5 anywhere. The only numbers I found on mine were the date 1963 or 1963D.

That looks like the 5 on a Canadian nickel.

Just changed my profile to indicate where I now live that is Nova Scotia.I live in florida in the fall and winter as I find it a bit cold during that time of year here in Canada.I went to a coin show at the Elks club and a seller asked me to join a coin club as he knew I was from Canada and he said I might add some input as some members had canadian coins. Maybe next year I will join!
