The missing neck truncation loop does not bother me. It is weak on several of the obverses for this year (including the B-1 BB-21 obv) and I have several images of genuine coins of differnt varieties where the loop is missing. The missing berry is the bigger question. That berry is strong on the B-1 BB-21 rev so I would be surprised if that feature, and only that feature should be missing. Other than that missing berry the coin is a perfect match for the B-1 BB-21 variety. If it is a fake they HAD to create the dies from the B-1 BB-21 variety. The reverse die does not match any other reverse of this type in the bust dollar series

I'm still very interested in whether or not this coin is authentic. A puzzle...

Although I stopped buying coins on ebay a few years back, this coin was very interesting. After some communication with the seller I'm fairly certain he is not knowingly passing a fake. He acquired it in 1994 from (what he described as) a reputable dealer in upstate NY, collected raw coins primarily and "cracked" out others he purchased. There is a 14 day return so I'm sure it will be going back after confirmation. Hope to post better/clearer photos soon for our consideration/evaluation. Thank you for posting matthewvincent. Off to work!

Crossing my fingers for you, Rayman! I gave serious consideration to doing the same, taking a chance...
Are you going to sending to some third party or other expert for an opinion?

After I show it to a local dealer for his opinion, I could take it to Randy at ICG if it was necessary. I feel comfortable they could confirm if genuine. Sending it off to NGC might be cutting it close.

Quote: There is a 14 day return so I'm sure it will be going back after confirmation. im not sure what you mean by this. Are you saying you belive it to be fake? Or just plan on returning it either way? Its a very nice coin and I hope its real. Someday I hope to own one. It would be really exciting to have a new variety discovered by a CCFer on such an old coin. I shall be watching /drooling on this thread. Heres to hoping!
