The coins are out (via Rep).... anyone ordering them? I got my order in for the 3 coins set and added the $5 silver coin w/ gold platting (baby theme w/ toys).

The coins have been out a couple of days. I got an email on Wednesday from my rep and on Thursday it was open to the general public.

I cancelled my orders because the Royal baby's name was not on it. It is just too generic; just a baby coin set with little connection to Prince George. If the set had the name on it it, I was going to buy 6-10 sets.

The only people I see buying the set are Royal Family fans and people who are expecting a baby this year.

I am using the $250 saved by not buying the set toward other things.

Ordered 3 coin set.
Just because I haven't have any baby themed coins yet, and I find design as good (not really related to Royal Infant, but anyway).

I ordered one set. I actually begin to like it more as it is more generic and attract more than just the royal follower.

I think I like the coin set... I can see why people were disappointed in the release, myself included. There was just too much hype surrounding the release. We can all agree they should've did anything to include a connection to the royal baby (besides the outer box)

But at the end of the day the 3 coins still look very nice, the boarders are beautiful. $83 for a 1oz proof coin from the mint is rare these days.

Even without the connection if there was no limit on the set, I'd bet it would've sold out by now.

I do not catch why the people are so enthusiast about this future release... I not really impress by this event after all and putting 250$ on a set for a royal baby born sounds crazy for me... Please help me to understand that! It's not like we have a man who walk on the moon or the invention of the atomic bomb!

I agree. Look in any junk shop here in the UK and there will be Royal commemorative mugs, plates, paperweights, what have you. Things like the Prince of Wales inauguration medals are worth ... basically melt. These things are produced in such numbers that they generally have no numismatic or collectable value.

If you like the design and it's an acceptable price for the bullion value, sure, why not. But in the hope it will pass as a valuble heirloom to your grandkids? Not a chance IMHO.

IMO, only 2-3 NCLT items per year possible to pass as something valuable to the grandkids. But this fact will not stop from collector to collect.
And these coins - Royal Infant set - just nice "baby" coins, priced cheaper than any other RCM 1oz item.
To save $250 on the set, and to buy 2-3 other RCM coins? IMO, it the same ....

unless it has some special meaning or I really love the design...i wont buy RCM products such as these. Sadly, nothing like that had been released for about 3 months.

Cancelled my 3 coin set too.
Just too generic.
If they decide to come out with a nice set in a wood box specifically noting the name and DOB, I'm in.
Will wait and see.....

This coin looks nice "Fine Silver Coin - Royal Infant with Toys (2013"

But I don't like the letter in middle.

I would like to see the "3D effect" on this coin. Anyone here have it in hand?

for those of you that want a royal coin with the date of birth of the new prince.. NZMint released their version of the royal baby coin with the mintage of 1500: http://coins.nzpost.co.nz/2013/roya...r-proof-coin

I personally won't buy any of these. I think it look fugly and expensive
