Do not send them back.
Pics show exactly what you were receiving. If you did not do your due diligence - lesson learned.

Wait a minute. The listing says "proof set;" if the picture showed a cocker spaniel puppy, he would still have the right to send it back. It was misrepresented.

Come on jerseyben cut the guy some slack, the listing says proof and they're not. Send them back, no harm done.

The seller accepts returns, JerseyBen, it doesn't matter if he got what was photographed or not. He can return it within 14 days if he so pleases. I've returned 3 ebay wins in the past 2 months because they didn't meet the standards I was expecting and bidding at.

I have no problem being the bad guy here. I just dont play the return stuff on ebay game that is becoming all too prevalent. Learn your craft, hone your skills, and take responsibility for your decision to either buy or pass up a deal. People cant learn if they dont make mistakes. Take it with a grain of salt, please.

While the Description mentions 1942 Proof Set, the seller checked the coins as Circulated & proof-like above.
I think the seller wasn't sure what he was selling.

jerseyben The seller was selling something that he either on purpose misrepresented or he didn't know what he was selling. Either way he should not have listed the set as proof. PERIOD. Had there not been a return policy I would not have touched this set with a million foot pole. The return policy is an insurance leverage against the possibility of this sort of thing which is why I took the risk. I'm getting my money back and hopefully this will teach the seller a lesson that you as a seller have the responsibility to know what you are selling and if you don't then don't act like you do. So everybody who has gotten ripped off on ebay from mislabeled/fake items should just take a hit because their skills aren't "honed"? That's pure stupidity and you know it.

IV gotten lucky a couple times where I bid, then relized it was the wrong year coin, got lucky and got outbid. Usually I like to last second snip bid to get the lowest possible price, unless of course the auction ends at 3;30 in the morning when I'm sleeping.

Seller should expect it to be returned if they misrepresented the product.

If such situations as this became common, ebay would become a place to sell old, used junk and state it as new. Why who knows if such things as this continued, coin sellers would start saying things like UNSEARCHED.

StevenBradley --- Do a cover of Elvis on this one --- RETURN TO SENDER. Those coins aren't proof period. The coins should have never been listed as "Proof" in the description when they are business strikes. Another thing to remember on the 1942 Proof set is whether it is a five or six coin set. This is because the composition of the nickel changed due to the war so you have the standard version (75% copper 25% nickel) which was prewar and then restored in 1946 and the War Nickel version (35% silver 56% copper 9% manganese) of which all 1943-45 nickels are and then some of the 1942 strikes.

The description also says, "Proof Like" and that hey ARE Circulated. It also says, "see photos" for the item condition. Caveat Emptor....Buyer Beware.
