I wish I was TIF's friend....(the one with all the dollars)....I have to settle for being the one that gawks at the non collectors really phat ancient coins....you got good taste sista!

I found this little fellow while rummaging around for my Constantines today.

I picked up a couple of Thrace Odessos ATG tets. Had it on the shopping list and decided I deserved one too.

Trying to decide which one to keep. First coin is seller's picture (my camera battery charger conked out), second coin is my photo.

Zeus seated left, holding eagle and sceptre; deltaH left, monogram under throne.

Circa 120-90 BC
AR Tetradrachm
32mm, 16.70 g
In the name and types of Alexander III of Macedon
Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin
Reverse: Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; deltaH above knee, monogram below throne. Price 1180; Callataÿ group 1, dies (D2/R3); Topalov, Odesos 67
Slight die shift/doubling on reverse.

Thanks for the info ..... I wish mine had the stunning emerald green color.
Perfect size for a 'gem' setting.

Now that I know it is Sicilian I probably will hang onto mine.
