@KBrumley What that guy did speaks volumes as to the scum in this hobby and about what you really have. If you send the coin for authentication please do not skimp on insurance.

Definitely don't skimp on packaging or insurance. If you are talking about a 2x2 flip, it is piece of cardboard with clear in it for a coin to be stapled in. I'm glad you didn't listen to the guy also. Don't let anyone rip you off. You also may want to put it in a safe if you have one. If it is authentic, you have a very high dollar coin on your hands. Good luck!

If you don't know a lot about shipping things, wait before you send it and we can give you suggestions on what you need.

You are making the right move sending it to a third party grader in my opinion. I wouldn't take it anywhere else. As I am only familiar with NGC, I will let someone else explain the best shipping packing options for ANACS.

I am going to send it the ANACS, but truthfully, this form is a little confusing. They want to know Owner's value. To me it is priceless as it came from grandma. The other thing I am having problem with is the space that says "Variety". and as far the Mint mark, I didnt see one.

Sorry if I sound like a blond, but this is really very confusing. and I just want to make sure I send it to the right people. and truthfully, I really hope this is the real deal after all this. :-)

for mint mark, you would put P

as for the guy who offered $300 for it, what a sleazebag. I'm glad you saw through that charade

I live in the jacksonville Florida area and if you want then I could check it out and at least give you my opinion on it in person we could meet at a coin shop that I work at if you want to and ill be honest unlike the last guy! That just sickens me to think he was willing to offer $300 when if real he can obviously sell it for crazy money.

Philadelphia coins carried no mintmark until fairly recently, so no mint-mark is always "P".

For "variety" I would write "struck on steel planchet", and for "owner's value", I can't see what's wrong with putting "Gift - Priceless".

However, I've never actually done one of these forms, so don't take this unconditionally. I'm sure other members are more experienced with these submissions.

The "Owners Value" (at least as it refers when dealing with NGC) simply boils down to what do you want them to insure it for on its trip back to you. Requires a real dollar amount.

For value they want a price that will be insured back to you, they leave that up to you. I would put at least $50,000.00 on that line.

Just my thoughts, but you should try contacting your closest PCGS (top tier grading service) authorized dealer. They can handle everything for you as far as filling out the paper work and getting it to PCGS and back. There is a place called the Kennedy Center in Fleming Island, FL. It is run by Jim Barlow - 904-541-0891.

Here is the PCGS authorized dealer link.....
