I have not seen one before.Etched,engraved or whatever it boils down to PMD.

Counter etched. That's different anyway.
Usually a counter stamp. Maybe practicing.
I used to watch guys do both hand as well as machine aided
work on guns. Gotta have patience, steady hand and a keen eye.
One screw up and it's toast.
