From what I heard, this is a standard 10g bar purchased by Gold Dust in Reno. They stamped their own logo and sold/gave out as gift to the customers.

Absolutely love this thread abliss! Thanks for sharing everyone. I've been looking to get some bars myself. Thought I would start off with something standard, but I'll definitely be looking for some of the JM space program or Olympic bars. Just too cool!

Thanks Vesper. Collecting these bars is just one of my hobbies. Be sure to share photos if you happen to pick one up.

Do you know about the early JM 2 oz silver bars that are variety A with low serial number 000300?

darbar, yes I know a bit about the Johnson Matthey 2oz bars. I know they made over 5000 of the early variety A bars with the blank back. I know this because I have a sealed JM 2oz variety A bar with serial number 005413 and then I have a variety B bar with serial number 006244. So somewhere between 5413 and 6244 JM changed to the newer design. I know the 2oz bars sell around $100-120 on ebay. The early serial numbers are more desirable in my opinion but I don't believe the prices differ too much unless it is an extremely low number such as 000007 or something of that nature.

Is the ratio of A bars to B bars out there something like 1:4?

darbar, yes you are close. Another 2oz variety B bar in my collection has a serial number 016487 which is the largest serial number I have seen. So the ratio might be closer to 1:3.

I feel like I got pretty luck, someone dumped a pile of bullion at the local pawn / coin shop. Lots of rounds, Maples, NTRs, Sunshine, Engelhard (spelling?) and the 10 J&Ms I picked up. There was 3 of the king Koils, one TD and the rest normal serial numbered 1 ouncers. All are in excellent shape in the original packaging. Life is good.

I know buying while silver is on the way down is never good but my local shop has inventory like crazy (for a little town). So I can't help dipping my toe in on items we never get here. Just picked up a nice dimpled poured J&M 10 ouncer. There are couple of more there but that blows my fun money for awhile. Liverpool

It appears to be a numbered bar and has a W & H in a flag which would be Walker and Hall
