Someone took the time to document counterfeit coins and slabs offered on ebay and created 3000+ images on flikr. Very interesting to see what's out there and the quality of the slabs. This might qualify for a "sticky".

That's the work of an ebay Group which has been around since 2002. Those guys are serious. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the driving force behind ebay implementing CCW.

This is why you really need to know what you are looking at and looking for when buying on line or anywhere for that matter. If I were in the market to purchase a key date anything I would definitely be comparing to known die varieties, date and mint mark positions and so on. I'm glad I'm only in the market for Morgans by the VAM number.

This post from a while back should prove interesting.https://goccf.com/t/156921

The listing was removed after the auction closed and the buyer never received feedback and has not listed another coin since. I've been watching.

Take a look at the feedback for this seller and a better look at the coins that have been sold (the 1937 Texas is obvious. It appears about 6 or 8 times)https://goccf.com/t/156728&SearchTerms=fake

thanks for the info dave700x... sometimes a coin doesn't look right to me, even though some have been genuine when posted something in the picture was off...

it makes me wonder if I bought fake morgans when I had my books? the guy checked them all out and was happy with the trade but after seeing all this, its hard to tell, I really want to buy ALL my high dollar coins in person or from reputable people, by high dollar I mean $500+... which there are many in the book I am getting ready to start (AU/BU #7070).

I don't want to buy from LCS because of the reviews and pricing here in Hawaii... they have cruddy customer service and I have seen "copy" on some of the coins in there silver dollar books... ill be leaving the island soon and then I can really hit the streets and get my book together... I appreciate all the good info on fake coins and links... PEACE..
