@Roger: Who would in our circles could do something that a person in power cannot? Could you explain that because I'm not quite sure what you mean? As in a politician would take our idea, taint it to their desires, and use it for their own political ends? How?

Seriously? This is about an understanding of how things operate in the real world. It is not ideal, and it is by no means purist. Just like everything else in this world - it is who you know, not what you know, that matters. Ultimately, someone high enough up in the political world needs to drive a top-down approach - because us little guys trying from the bottom-up is simply not working. It does not matter whether it is numismatics, car parts or kids toys - stuff gets done when someone, who knows someone, decides to do something about it... big squeaky wheels gets the grease, and although Mike has done a tremendous amount for our hobby, don't get him upset by asking how many times doors have been slammed in his face or phone calls not returned - it is certainly not for lack of Mike trying... That said, if Mike can get the ear of someone in Toronto, in the media or even a lobbyist with a political agenda or anyone who wields a bigger stick, then when the sticks start swinging from higher up, the RCM or RCMP might THEN actually do something about it... Yes, the Press Release has been distributed to over 250 media personal in Canada, and also has been submitted to news feeds. If anyone has some inside media connections, please pass the word along.

Is there any way is folks out west can get a video or buy a copy of transcripts of this seminar. The word needs to get out. I'd love to buy a video of the seminar or other materials presented. I have run across a couple ebay sellers, who sell copies of the RCM's Nclt duck/ robin/ and titanic coins. One seller when he sells the fakes it a private listing, so you don't know who the buyer is. He tends to sell them in lots of 5-10. |

The reason I asked is that the RCMP usually handles these kinds of things, so whose else's business is it? The question was answered at least...
But remember when there was a gallery of counterfeits and the RCMP almost shut it down? Education goes a long way.
Did anyone ever get a chance to catch the "Fake" exhibition at the ROM a few years back? They possessed and displayed counterfeit bills and products, so it's apparent that some people are above the law.

The RCMP and CBSA will only act on the bequest of the Canadian Mint, they own the copyrights, we need the news cast or someone with a contacts to a major newspaper outlet to shame the RCM to act in this issue. I hope someone knows a news outlet and get them to attend these seminar, as I said in another thread, would apple allow iphone knockoffs to be sold openly on ebay, their legal department will instantly contact the government agency to start the process. The RCM just don't care |

Ah yes, the competition. When I am in Manchester NH for the Coin Expo I shall think of you all enjoying the Toronto show. I leave on Thursday to help set up our display booth. We are the same two days.

The seminar will be professionally recorded. The only issue I am trying to deal with is audio.

Thanks nickel guy! I am seeing a few fake/ replica Nclt coins on ebay. It doesn't seem like anyone wants to do anything about it. They are of titanic 50 cent and robin and duck coins of 2013. |
