Hi!
I just picked up this nice looking coin, and I noticed that the letter *U* is doubblestruck. Is this common on this coin or have I a got my self a rare error. The mintage is only 76.000.

I see the repunched U in UN SOL--that's interesting!
The varieties I know that have value are the misspellings of words.
Corrections of letters are more common, since the dies are hand-made.
The overdates are collected too--value depends a lot on rarity.

Considering the low mintage it is quite possible that all them camt from the same die and all of them have the repunched U. In fact since the date is not on that die it may have been used in more than one year.

I hear you, but I have been looking at every SOL I could find from 1930 (more than 20) and I cant find one with a repunched U.

So lets say that at least one in 20 have the same error out of a mintage of 76.000...that will be 3800 versions of this variety. It would be really interesting so know how many is out there.

I have coins like that--which have something distinct that I can't find on other examples.
If you find a match--post it here. I would enjoy seeing a similar coin.
