I'm a little surprised too but it is a significant commitment both in time and dollars.
Plus, I really think there is a lot of fatigue out there with collectors. We have just been overwhelmed with coins in the past year or two.

Yeah but 5 coins until 2015 is not too much. There are many strange things with GL coins. For example in my order, it still says $ 0.00 and my CC hasn't been authorized yet.

i noticed that same thing arianzo, the invoice is not matching up with what I would expect. it might be a case where the subscription has $0 cost, and when the coins are individually invoiced then the full coin cost is authorized on the card.

For the several subscriptions that I had - it was the same case. Subscription itself is transparent and no chargeable. But you will charged everytime when the single coin shipped. They maintain the relation of the subscriptions to the customers on some excel that sometimes you see the entry in the paperwork, that sent to you with the coin.

adambur and Silveroid are correct.
Subscriptions listed on your order account appear as the main item with zero cost. The individual coins are listed as sub-headers (pun intended) with the cost of each coin, and appear when the coin is released for sale.

Right but the first coin is CC pre authorized as any other order. At least it happened to me in previous subscriptions.

That's correct for most subs. Your order will show $0 but there will be a new sub order w/ a different order number when the coin is being prepared for shipment. If you don't have a sub order yet, you ain't getting the coin any time soon. lol My CC was preauthorized for the full $575 cost of the sub the day that I ordered but since it's been 7 days, the preauthorization expired. It will likely come back when they get ready to ship the first coin. Quote: Yeah but 5 coins until 2015 is not too much. I just meant the $575 is a lot for some people AND waiting 16 months to complete the set is way too long for some of us. Heck, some people are complaining about not getting coins shipped that were just issued last week.

Quote: I'm surprise the sub is not sold out.
I'm not. Two reasons: The subject matter and the price. I live in BC and I have absolutely no interest in the Great Lakes. I could barely name all 5 of them. The interest in the coins would be highest in the areas surrounding the Great Lakes like Ontario and Michigan. I doubt most people outside of North America even heard of the Great Lakes. Unlike the Beaver, Polar bear, Hockey, or the Mounties, the Great Lakes are not the Canadian symbols known to the rest of the world. The price is the other negative of the coins. While I realize the costs are spread out over a long time, they still add up to $615, not $575, because I have to pay PST on top of them. I can think of better things to do with $615. I am sure the Mint will come up with plenty of other coins in 2014 to tempt me. So I will use the $615 I forgo for other things/coins.

Many people driven by idea, that coin choosen for the collection should be able to maintain its price. These coins (GL) looks like not able. So people not buy them.
Many people buy the coins, if the hot. Example - "Gold Superman". No one liked it, till it suddenly proven its profitability. The GL coins aren't hot, so people do not buy them.

I think you underestimate the intelligence of your fellow Canadians and people around the world. The GL are among the most easily identifiable features of North America. Hudson Bay, the GLs and those hills you have out there in the West. Whadya call them again?!

Outside of the Superman coins and maybe the Venetian Glass Butterfly coin, none of the coins released by the Mint this year were hot. The reason why the Superman coins were slow out of the gate was they delayed the release of the pictures. If MC members knew what they looked like I am sure they would have sold out much faster.
For a coin to be really hot it would have to bought by people who are normally not coin collectors. That happened with the Superman coins and the first glow in the dark Dinosaur coin. People who don't collect coins suddenly wanted one. Would the Great Lake coins appeal to non-coin collectors as much as the Superman coins? I doubt it. How many kids want a Great Lake coin for Christmas?
