Personally I go with what ever works and you can find a suitable companion...

month/day/year
day/month/year
year/month/day
year/day/month... really who cares.. the only one who will really appreciated it is someone that birthday... if I find one and know of someone with that birthday.. I give it to 'em for face... at one point in time I collected a few thinking I would sell them.. but I would much rather just spend the money on something else then hold onto it in hopes of finding a match with someone

Hi Malibu, great find! For the sequence of the first note and last note....it does not seem that it goes from: ####000-####999.

It looks to me that the brick had two different ranges for the serial number

@Coinsplus yes you're right the brick had ranges all over the map. They use anywhere from 102 to 190 "numbers" per hundred including replacement notes that are not in sequence.

One set of a hundred bills ran from 1027420-1027522 (102 numbers used), while another set of a hundred went from 1027663-1027799, then replacement note 0784682 followed by 1026601-1026654 (190 numbers used). The lowest bill was 1026833 and the highest 1032055, a difference of 5222... go figure.

The entire brick is prefix HPB.

Just heading back to the bank to see if they'll exchange this brick for 500 tens, the tellers are ready to shoot me.

Yes. Look for random serial numbers in between a run of consecutive notes.

@AgCoinAu: yes I found 2 radars and posted them in this thread on page 3. The statistical probability of finding a radar is one in a thousand so I was lucky!

@1188howest: nice brick! find anything? My heart was racing as I went through my brick. Each stack of 100 notes is a different series and none were in numerical order so you never know what's coming next!

This is more fun than CRH but more work for the tellers.

Does anyone know if the replacement notes are worth keeping? I got five (pic on page 3 here), they're not in sequence but are all numbered HBP078##82, where only the ## numerals change. In my 5 replacement notes the ## numbers were 46, 62, 72, 74 and 88, not sure what that signifies...anyone know?

I don't think any replacement ranges have been released for the $5 or $10 yet.

You could hold onto them for now, and wait for the first list to be released.

too many replacement notes ...

1 bundle of notes went from 2226693 - 2235692,2235693 then back to 2226699 and missing notes in this same bundle were; 2226763,2226718,2226678

and also (same bundle) another gap of missing notes at 2226728 - 2226733

There is a person in Quebec who determines if something is replacement or not. If you go on to the paper money forum website you can find the information. Send your findings to him.

yep, I'm confused about the replacement notes as well. It seems like there are so many, they must have had a lot of errors running the 5's; I doubt the early replacements would be worth much of a premium. I just got a fresh bundle, still with the BoC wrapper and the numbers are all over the place, lots of random singles missing, then it jumps by about 200 for the last 30 bills.
