Trying to order the 20 for 20 Snowman from the RCM site. On the site, it says free shipping but when checking out, they want $12.99 CAD. The free shipping doesn't include the U.S.?

for some of the free shipping deals you need to call in to get the deal. Not sure if they still have that deal as they come and go, but try calling in to place the order.

Quote:I wonder if RBC sends it back to RCM for the alloy recovery program... Silver is not an alloy. ;) But ya they send them back to be melted. The curious thing for me is how many of the 20 for 20 will survive and will that make them collectible one day. Not likely I think.

I still think the 20 for 20 program is great. The designs are always changing and it's affordable.
Was it 4 coins this year? If so it's $80 a year to continue the series. Heck I hope everyone trades their coins in it'll just lower the mintage.

I agree $20 for $20 looks great in the collection I also like the $100 had a few reservations about the $50 but added them as well but I did manage to overcome my completest OCD and resisted the purchase of the $200 coin. For those who can't get rid of their Overstock Xmas is coming kids love them give one to your son, daughter, grandkids the paperboy the kid who cuts your grass or shovels your walk and if all else fails - email me and I'll send you my address I accept gifts...

I received my Snowman today, I started getting into coins because of the 20 for 20 deal. I have one example of all the coins and am not going to stop. I bought one at the Post Office for 25% off (Retail of $25.00) and it came to $18.75. I though I'd do it a second time and they smartened up. Too bad I thought the 18.75 for 20 was the best. I was charged shipping in Canada for the latest coin received today $2.99 plus $0.45 tax.

That's kind of strange. A) They are $20 face value, why would they sell for less. B) they are pure silver - and are exempt of tax.

I think that the paper/plastic sleeves of these coins are more collectible than the coin itself. Some throw it away before they return it to the bank.

I wish the RCM captured/reported data on what they recover and melt down. But yes, I like the 20/20, 100/100, etc. series.

Dcadon, they sell for less because the face value is decorative only. The coin's actual value is likely 70% of spot, which is likely what the Mint is acquiring silver for, plus the miniscule production costs. The coin is a seniorage product, like the US State Quarters, except that the latter is not a scam that is falsely advertised to Canadians. I feel bad for the young mother of modest means who buys these, thinking she is building an inheritance for a young child, who ends up being stuck, needing money, and going to the bank with these.
