I removed the "multiple posts" rule since it only made sense before we had the one year per day rule (to keep someone from going ten years back with ten coins in a row). Carry on.

muddler .. nice to see you have some UNC's For some reason I was thinking you have all proofs. FYI .. I have been buying some proofs, some of them are what I think a pretty good deal. Quote: Show off! Not really meaning to show off ... I do like seeing posts like this with everyone's nice coins. Where I have a lot of modern coins .. I am sure I will be amazed at all the classics, members have, when we do get to those years. I am still looking to see what coin I hope to post at midnight.

I do have a dozen or so BU commemorative dollars but did not have the discipline to complete the bu set when I had the proofs. I remember receiving the mint brochure advertising the Jackie Robinson gold coins, I had purchased the bu Roosevelt gold coin prior and opted to just get the commemorative dollar, lost opportunity there.

Great Britain 1997 BU set from The Royal Mint - the first issue of the bimetallic £2, and also the first new-size 50p and the last old-size 50p (the latter was NIFC).

I really like these two specimen issues. As you said, they are different, and your examples are always a pleasure to see! Speaking of different... And muddler, your modern commemorative coins are always a welcome treat as well.

This is a funny one. It's a counterfeit 1996 £1 coin. Approximately 3% of all £1 coins currently in circulation are fakes like this one. The design is poorly defined so it must have been a weak strike and the coin is so underweight that it gets rejected by vending machines. Additionally, the inscription around the rim (not visible) is uneven and the chosen design (a flax plant and royal diadem representing Northern Ireland) was not used in 1996.
