I guess mine is the ultimate 'error' coin. Listing it on ebay. How much should I ask? 10 grand? More?

These coins are truly incredible. I just finished making videos of my two coins that arrived this morning. One is perfect, and the other has 3 miniscule bubbles and 4 very light scratches. When viewed with the naked eye both coins appear perfect. I'd like to see a video of the enamelling process of there coins. I would imagine it must be more painstaking than the S shield because of the engraving and different blues. It's nice to have coins with a combination of machine made and hand enamelled. It must be a very painstaking job. They look way better in hand than the mint pic. The set should be a splendid addition to any Canadian collection. I'm a prairie gal and I really appreciate these coins.

I just picked mine up from Fedex. I think the coin looks really neat. I can see one imperfection on mine, a small silver line in the middle of the blue that is visible from one side angle, but this is under 10X and doesn't concern me. No bubbles or scratches that others have reported. I like the effect of the land (especially along the north shore) rising subtly to the edge of the lake (kind of like on a shield volcano). Like everyone else, I of course wish that the price tag was a bit lower. But I ask myself from where else can I buy innovative, beautiful coins like these? You Canucks make really nice and unique coins:)

lol and a bork bork to you NuMoose.
I looked at the coin again under a normal light, brighter this time and I can still see a few scratches. I'm torn. I think this is a beautiful coin and definitely a keeper but I'm a little disappointed with the quality of the enameling. I agree that anything done by hand will probably not be perfect. But I wonder why some coins have so many scratches whereas some don't have any at all. I also agree with the other members who think the coins should be in a more pristine condition considering these are numismatic and we're charged such a hefty premium. I don't plan on selling this coin but I feel the scratches have already diminished some of its value.
If I were to return this coin, would I be reimbursed the original shipping fee? And will I still be subscribed if I don't get the first coin from the Mint? I'm thinking of ordering one through Canada Post but my other concern is getting a coin that's in worse shape after all the hassle. What to do

Looked at mine close today and I have a tiny bubble. I'm keeping it as it is a beautiful coin.

Just trying to get a general consensus from everyone on this series. It seems that overall it is well received! Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I've received mine. It's beautiful, I like it! I don't see nothing abnormal but will check after with magnifier. My COA (I don't like the new design)is #1420 so it's clear I've one of the 1500 boxes

@ sw3dish ch3f
I've never returned a coin to the mint for either a refund or an exchange, so I don't know how it works.
As far as keeping your subscription if you return the first coin, I suggest that you contact the mint to find out what would happen.

Thanks for the response NuMoosematist!Just a quick question- Do all enamelled finishes get applied by hand? Don't want to stray from the lakes topic but I see the christmas candles coin is enamelled as well.

I was reading the comments at the RCM web site concerning this coin and decided to copy-paste the last one: "The pictures of the Lake Superior coin, on the Royal Canadian Mint's website, do not do the coin justice. The Lake Superior coin is so much more beautiful when you look at it while holding the coin in your own hand. I believe that the Silver Great Lakes 5 Coin Set will increase in value in time...and I have selected coins and sets which have increased in value by 100%-400% over the years."

I got mine in today. With the naked eye and a very bright light, I have not noticed any scratches or bubbles yet. I am debating taking a high resolution pic and zooming in on the coin. I am afraid of what I might find.
The coin itself is absolutely beautiful. I think it gets my personal favourite coin of the year award.
