Seems like a real issue. But It's seems to occur in random coins. Some worst off then others. But If you like the design and the coin itself then you should definitely pick it up because chances are you won't be able to notice these things. And the mint's return policy is great if you decide you don't like it.

Quote: With all the scratches people are finding on these coins definitely deters me more from picking it up! It's a pricey coin/subscription, so I would expect perfection! I mean, if the first coin has problems, what does that tell you about the upcoming coins and how does that affect the sentiment of the whole set?

I received 3 2 days ago and to the naked eye, 2 look great & 1 is very disappointing due to the very western tip(Minnesota area) of lake has no blue color on it! I have never returned a coin but this I am afraid I must.

Anyone get their coin from the Mint? You can get this coin for ~$98 from CP online during the cyber weekend sale. I'm thinking of returning mine to the mint as a defective coin and purchasing from CP instead. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether they will consider it defective. If they don't, I won't be reimbursed for the return shipping and it wouldn't make sense to get it from CP. Is anyone familiar with the return process?

With this specific coin, you may receive another one (from CP), that you will really consider as "defective". Bubbles, lines on enamel...etc

Another option is to keep both coins. And you have overall 7.5% off.

Silveroid, the thing is my coin does have major scratches on the enamel and a bubble. To me, those are defects. I'm not sure what the mint thinks though. Then again, so many of these made it through qc despite of the bubbles and scratches maybe they don't consider them defects.
Arianzo, the latter is what I'm afraid of. I don't want to go through the hassle only to break even. And it's possible I will get one with more bubbles and worse scratches.
Snoopy, lol. I actually don't mind owning another one but I don't have deep pockets :(
SA4H, that's the same reason I got this from the mint. I want the box. But I'm not an MC member so I have to pay for the shipping. I plan on cancelling after I receive the box and ordering from CP thereafter. I hope there won't be any delays. I wonder if I'll still get the box in the case that they do have a delay.
