You are correct moneypenny it will only appeal to a niche market. I've only seen 3 great lakes in my life and I can't say that this set appealed to me. But I do like the way the mint has presented it. I was lucky enough not have not any issues with the quality. After seeing the first two coins placed in my display I know the final product will look good. I do like how the release will be spread out over time as oppose to a series ending in the same year.

Money Penny is super right, along with the most honorable Silveroid. I agree with both their comments. I have seen those coins go for much lower as they point out on ebay. It is too niche. I think dealers have a ton of supply as well. The good part is, if you were patient, you are going to get this for much lower. The only caveat I see is that coins that sell for low prices will probably go lower before they get stable. I also like the series, nice idea. But, if you look at the blue, its like a blue blob.... unless you understand a coin. With an animal, a coin is a much faster easier sell as an example. If you bought the series, dont have regrets, you are doing what you like in the hobby.

Some of you who did not subscribe may have forgotten about these coins. I just noticed that the subscription is SOLD OUT. This means the wooden display boxes are sold out, but there is no mention anywhere as to how many of these were sold. The 1st coin is Awaiting Stock, while the 2nd and 3rd are still available. Anyway, I like these coins a lot and look forwar to eventually receiving the last two. The box is very well made as well.

I agree, this series is highly underrated, the box that comes with the subscription is awesome, as well as the slip cover that comes with it! My favorite coin so far is Lake Superior.

You're right about the sleeve CC94, and the 1st coin is definitely superior...
The other two aren't too shabby either.

I love my set. Then again I bought it because I liked it.

Received the Lake Michigan today and even under a microscope there is no bubbling in the enamel. Unfortunately, the lake is a bit less detailed than I would have liked and there are a couple too many large islands in the North.

What's wrong with a few too many large islands in the north... This set continues to impress me... All that we await and see now is...will Georgian Bay be part of the final Lake Huron coin to complete this magnificent set?

Quote: What's wrong with a few too many large islands in the north... lol. There are more large 'islands' on my coin than actually exist in nature. Interesting that this coin and I suppose the next are dated 2015. Looking forward to Huron so that I can complete the set and put them on display.
