Sorry for not coming back to you earlier, I had some problems with my access to the internet lately (one PC down and one laptop occupied by my teenage daughter catching up with the last season of Gossip Girl over the internet...)
I think this is GB-254. The little I see matches, and besides that, there are sometimes striking issues with the "real" coins while the hand-engraved fakes are all very detailed...
As for the Amaya book, it is simply the best book about a Mexican numismatic topic that has ever been published. Mr. Amaya is a collector of errors and varieties and has both the sharp eye and the methodological thinking for cataloguing them, which is a great, great asset for any book on the many variations and deviations present in the MexRev series.
He had access to the pictures from the Cortina collection, which means that not only are his listings close to complete, he also has pictures for pretty much anything - including large sections on errors, fantasies and counterfeits of all kind, right down to the plastic version of the Muera Huerta peso! For the second edition, he only had to correct one larger misattribution. I leave it to you to judge what this tells about the meticulosity of the author.
If you collect MexRev, you must have this book. If not, just as well, just to know what a good numismatic catalog should look like. And no, I am not receiving any bonus for selling this book :-)
I was told that an English version is being prepared, but I don't know if this is still in the making, and by when it might be available. However, any RevMex collector should be willing and able to develop a basic knowledge of Spanish numismatic terms to discern "canto estriado" from "canto liso", so this cannot count as an excuse.
