I worry about the tiny areas of crud caught in the reverse nooks & crannies. Those are precisely the places I expect a cleaning not to reach.

I'm not sure if it is the images, because they aren't the best, but the surfaces don't look original and problem free to me

You are correct Panzaldi, there are plenty of problem free 1905 Liberty nickels that are AU condition.
