Quote: I also got a note from my rep today - in the past, as a m/c member, we weren't limited to the number of coins purchased (face value deals) but the new 'Lucky Loonies' I had ordered 5 sets of 5. The new policy is Nobody gets more than the maximum of 3 sets. I'm not sure if this is only for the Lucky Loonies, or all face value deals in the future. Quote: I ordered 10 five packs and will be very disappointed if they cancel or change the order. Of course I can't check on the order because it doesn't appear on the website. lol.
Going forward, I guess they want us to go back to using multiple accounts. Kind of pointless. I received the same email from my rep. I nearly started a new thread called " RCM rants" because I wanted to share the lengthy email I sent to my rep explaining my frustrations. I told him my anger was not directed at him, but simply the system. I explained that everything they do for 'preferred' customers is becoming well known among collectors. One gentleman I spoke with this weekend explained how he has 5 accounts under 5 family members names, his rep is aware and will spread out his order among the 5 accounts to avoid limits. It gets even worse, if the coins are slow movers he just gets a return number within 45 days. It was also interesting to hear what all the dealers had to say about RCM products at the show this past weekend. I think the RCM is going to a have a rude awakening this first fiscal quarter.....and they deserve it.

Come on, guys....
The coin is...well - acceptable to be single representative of the "Bank of Russia" Olympic coin (still, IMO, .925 of purity for modern NCLT it not the best...its not the "classic" coin or something like this).
Did you like the COA, right?
Take a look more closely: 1. Who issued the COA - the Mint or the Bank? Bank, that not the entity of coin minting. 2. Do you see the maximum mintage number? No, I guess 3. What exactly represents this COA number? Looks like total number of all Olympic cons. 4. Holographic sticker on COA, that advertise "sochi.ru" What is this - do they use the COA space for adds?
I would say, the package is good, but the COA - weak point for this edition.

I believe the Bank and the Mint are synonymous - one and the same. Quote: 4. You correct CC-Ottawa, about the "sochi.ru 2014"
They have main mints - Moscow and Leningrad, and I believe more, so there the coins minted. And the Bank of Russia - this the entity who "commissioned" the coins, the "customer".
As per mine understanding, you can not buy there coins directly from the Mint. well, it's ok, since I believe for many countries it is the same.
So in this case, I will appreciate the Mint certificate more rather then COA of the commissioner.

@silveroid I can see your point. But I think your missing mine. My poke was at the lack of quality in the RCM coa not their coin's. I haven't tried it myself, but It looks as though you would be able to make it yourself if you really wanted too. Where as with the hologram I'm sure you'd have a lot more trouble faking.

@chubbycheecks: yes, I understand. Together with all the nice stories and descriptions (at least till 2014), RCM COA looks like just printed with some good printer (I have no knowledge here) and can be faked easily. Btw, do we call to that finish (of Sochi coins) "Reverse Proof" and not "Proof"? You know why I disappointed and see only the "empty half glass here"....cause I expect from those countries some great commemorative (or bullion) proof fine silver coin with some traditional (not endless animals or zodiacs) coin, and do not see it.

Quote: I think fed_ink85 is prescient Sorry for my rant yesterday, I was a little upset. What I said is simply speculation based on what I'm hearing from others, but I don't think it's a secret to anyone on CCF lately. I'd like to mention that downhill Sochi coin is really nice looking, COA, and box look nice to me aswell. @Dcadon, can you please post a picture of the obverse? They do not have a picture of the obverse on the website, which I find a odd, and I would like to compare the quality of the cameo finish to the RCM's.

Guess these huge piles of circulation quarters will be lonely now - loved sharing these with people.
20 packs of circulation loonies to 3 does suck. Was hoping to share with co-workers and other locals to get them interested in coins.
A lot of non-collectors often do collect the circulation quarters/loonies/toonies but its usually the ones in change, so when they suddenly appear in a nice plastic, and with no filthy hands on them. Their eyes explode and its an awesome thing.

@fed_ink85: You can use the "Flip Coin" button that is under the reverse image to get a look at the obverse of the coin.

Nice the designs of the $100x$100 and they have 40 mm diameter.

The obverse looks great, the quality of the cameo looks much better than the RCM's, although their pictures aren't the greatest.

I received a form e-mail from my rep today about Mint changing it's policy on circulation packs to cut back to 3 per household.
So far I'm resisting the urge to changemy policy to cancel all of my outstanding orders. I placed my order and it was confirmed 17 days ago and they change it now? I really don't know if I would accept such customer service from any other retailer or if I will take it from the Mint.
Sure it's only circulation packs at FV but this opens quite a door for the Mint to open. Anyone ever order multiples of a 'hot' coin from a dealer only to have them reduce that order? I boycotted one dealer for several years in 2004 because they did that. Funny how they didn't have enough of the coin at the issue price of $40 but they had plenty of the same coin at $160. Others had is happen with the special penny roll just last year with one particular dealer and there are plenty of examples with yet another US dealer.
To me this is a matter of principle. If you accept an order and send a confirmation, then you fill that order. You do not send an impersonal form e-mail 2 weeks later reducing the order because of a 'policy change'.
/end rant.
