I am very happy with this month's release. Besides the Proof SD and the 100 Fu coin, nothing else is interesting.

Also, the catalogue highlighted that the O Canada series (including the 1/2 oz) are all proof, their exact wording is "each design is crafted with a mirror-like background..", but their web site has the 1/2 oz as matt-proof, which we all know is not mirror-like background. It is interesting to see which one is correct (although I still won't buy it either way).

I'll be following the same path as a couple of others with this release. I plan to keep my commemorative silver dollar collection current and pick up a couple of the 100 Fu coins to give as gifts to friends over in China and Singapore.

I'll be staying clear of the "replica" Maple Leafs.

I believe the mint is banking on the fact that it's a silver maple and that alone will be enough sell the coin. And truth be told their probably correct, it will sell. But I have a feeling you'll be able to buy it for lower after the initial hype.

I don't see the trend changing for 2014. And after last years black Friday I'll bet towards the end of the year a lot of people will just sit back and wait it out.

For the beaver it says "12th issue in the series". Which in a few months might be the first coin in the series of 2014's "affordable gold coins series" that will come with a collectors box. ( I still want this coin but I just can't stand the size of these coins )

The 2013 bald eagle was the 12th. http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/125-o....Ustr-IaEiM8

Really have to wonder who proof reads (fact checks) the mint's marketing (mis)information.

Proof read? There's way too much frost to see anything.

I'm struggling lately to be excited about any RCM releases and this one is little exception.

I'll get the $20 for $20 Canada goose coin and fly over to the February release. I was interested in a few Olympic coins until I saw the prices!

Think I'll dig up a few Vancouver Olympic coins/sets and enjoy the good old days!

No luck with gold coins:

Beaver - very nice, but too small

I really want to have a set of the Provincial Coat of Arms coins, but wish the RCM will struck more affordable versions of them (why not silver...)

No surprise that I have only 1912-1914 BoC gold coins.

The SD has been done well, but I will wait for WWII theme.

So let's pickup some overpriced replicas
May be the COA numbered...just for the difference from the bullion.

***Added:
Smart move by RCM marketing and Loonie collectors will be "happy" - the special Loonie coin available only in the Gift sets.
Need to see "O Canada gift set" - the Maple Leaf there could be interesting.

Interesting note on the special $1 in the gift sets. Odd that the advance notice e-mail doesn't show a picture of it. Also anxious to see the box the SML replica comes in. It must be really special to be worth 50 bucks.

Based on previous releases, these new product should be on the website for MC members tomorrow - but who really knows. The Mint is mostly unpredictable.

I notice the gold and silver maple leafs don't ship until March, and the sets with the special $1 coins are "while supplies last." The only special $1 I can make out from the horrible pic in the pre-release is the O'Canada set, it looks like a simple Maple leaf design(I could be wrong), and I'm guessing the baby set will have a stork, similar to the cover....but we will have to wait and see.

Just looking at the advance notice email.

I can't really tell from the photo but do you think each annual gift set has its own unique loonie?

That would make for seven unique loonies in just the first release.

IMO, should be different, in order to give each set it's own uniqueness.

@Silverdollarnuts:

Do you collect all versions: like Proof, BU...?
