Some do and some don't. Depends on the size of the Lamination.

I would think most of the time they detract from a coin. Other times when they are huge, they will add value to the coin. I've noticed a lot of struck through errors on proof coins. I guess the question is when looking at a lamination on a coin would be: "Would I buy this?" That would probably be the best indicator to a seller.

https://goccf.com/t/163920See above. This one was severe enough that it added value. I have found other minor ones I couldn't give away. This should give you am idea

well over 99% of laminations do not increase the value of a coin (and some decrease the value). Here is another example of a lamination that increases value.

Believe it or not laminations tend to increase the value. Though it can be negligible. I sell lots of coins. For instance you can't give away a circulated 192X Lincoln on ebay. Put it up for .99 cent start and you will almost never sell it. If it has a lamination, then often it will sell for that .99 cent start price. About 75 percent of my Laminations sell.

If you have the right buyer, then they can add value. I found one I kind of like and paid a little extra for it.

Depends on the coin sometimes. War Nickels seem to have a lot more laminations than Frnaklin halves.

Jack - nice Franklin lamination. I find the war lams a lot I have a pretty decent one I just found (just uploaded pics). I have a few other recent War Nickels that have lamination errors, but they're just not good/bad enough to fetch a premium based on past experience.

Just to upgrade, my last lot of 10 lamination error LWC's sold for an aggregate of $36. And were all over the place in price. From .99 to $10.49. Except for two of those coins, that were high grade, none of them would have normal sold, at all, on ebay; without laminations.

I just came into a 3 CN that was slab as PR65 with a mint error lamination. I will try to post a photo later. Can you tell me what it may be worth?

Darrinb! It is difficult to say without seeing the lamination as some are more pronounced than others. Please post in a separate thread so you will get more exposure for your coin (if you were already planning on doing that, please just chalk my previous statement up to excitement ). Needless to say, I look forward to seeing your thread!
