How about one that has been certified as a legitimate error by a major third party grading service?

This 2002 gold colored Ohio quarter is listed for $1,799 as a "Super Rare New Error Coin" but the seller doesn't say what makes it "super rare".

I did send him/her a message asking about what makes it rare and asked if it is because it is gold colored. The seller responded, "That's what I'm told" but didn't elaborate any further as to who told him/her that.

From create-7503 Item 153498434945

1999 D FULL BROCKAGE Lincoln Memorial penny MAJOR US ERROR COIN

Buy It Now price: $569.95 or $50 per month for 12 months.

Seller's description/details...

Quote:
Striking Errors:

Brockage:

Full

Definition: A brockage is an incuse, mirror-image version of the design. It is produced when a coin is struck into a planchet or another coin. A full brockage is one that covers the entire face (obverse or reverse). The coin carrying the brockage can be struck inside or outside the collar. The brockage can be complete or incomplete. The first impression of a coin is called a first-strike brockage. If the coin sticks to a die and becomes a die cap, it will strike additional planchets. These later impressions are called "early-stage", "mid-stage", and "late-stage" brockages. The sharpest, most complete first-strike brockages occur when both the coin (the "brockage-maker") and the planchet are confined by the collar. These "mirror brockages" are highly sought-after.
There are eight ways in which such a combination may occur. All are rare.
Several are represented by an actual example. Others remain entirely theoretical. For the theoretical, visual reconstruction is presented of the conditions immediately preceding the production of the brockage-counterbrockage error.

Counterbrockage/clashed cap strike.

A "clashed cap" is a die cap that collides with the opposite die when a planchet fails to be fed into the striking chamber. A "clashed cap strike" is a planchet that is struck by such a cap. A clashed cap strike is a type of brockage.

A counterbrockage/clashed cap strike occurs when an obverse die cap that is striking counterbrockages collides with the reverse die when a planchet fails to enter the striking chamber. The working face of the die cap picks up a die-struck reverse design, which is often incomplete owing to the reduced thickness of the floor of the cap. The next several coins that are struck feature intermingled brockage and counterbrockage design elements. The brockaged elements are derived from the clash, while the counterbrockage elements are from the original incuse design on the working face of the die cap.

Infamustrueerror, that's another heavily damaged coin that you're showing. PSD. You don't seem understand how the minting process works. You can't even seem to accept the fact that you're wrong. What are you trying to accomplish here anyways? We all know that it's not an error, since we actually understand how the actual minting process works.

@Infamustrueerror, Most of the people whom you believe are criticizing those ebay listings are collectors and coin dealers with decades of experience.

If you believe those coins are rare mint errors, please submit them to any reputable third-party grading service for authentication. We look forward to seeing them authenticated as errors. We cordially invite you share the photos of the slabbed coins with us.

This is not to knock the seller, who is being completely honest, but the people who bid on absolute garbage!

You should see the pre-cleaning pics! Why anyone would bid on this is beyond me.

I had to laugh at this one! 372763035033

The damaged, but "Genuine" PCGS coin that DeputyMax posted in this topic on 8/14/19 was relisted on ebay 4 times. It is now showing as SOLD! I don't think the seller will ever see a dime of the $15,390 that I think was bid, as this buyer bought 28 items last month and then seems to have vanished. A strange listing on ebay just gets stranger.

I tracked this coin because I offered the seller $4 several times, but the offer was declined each time.

Just for grins...

Here is an "error" 1975-D Memorial for only $2,470 from a seller with one feedback and 66.7% feedback rating.

It is listed as a "die crash". It does look like it was in a crash.

Nothing against the seller, who accurately describes it, or the coin, which is a 1914-D Lincoln Cent, but it really is in horrible condition.
