"It Is Circulated And Has Some Minor Wear Or Light Scratches On It. Just Thought Someone Might Like To Have It. Very Good Condition For A Circulated Coin."

The seller clearly does not know what he's talking about! That coin has had a hard life.

Awhile ago there was an uncirculated 1909 penny for sale: no s, no VDB, just a 1909 plain that was uncirculated and guess how much it was? 90 bucks.

I guess they couldn't fit "Accidentally dropped into the garbage disposal" onto the label.

I don't find this a totally unreasonable price, and to be fair only 1 side is affected.

It all depends how much one feels a severely damaged coin is worth.
Is it better to have F15 or an MS60 with this level of damage ?
Given that I'm never likely to have a MS Seated Liberty dollar, I might plump for the latter.

I suspect that if I were the seller, I would want around 20% of the price an undamaged specimen would be worth.

Wow. A shame that happened to that dollar. For the record, I would rather have the F-15 than this one.

Poor dollar. It looks like someone had something stamped into at one time, and someone tried to remove the stamping.

I wonder why they didn't go all the way and polish it, too.

There is nothing wrong with this coin. I realize there is limited space to fit in your description, but maybe a different choice of which word to cut short.

If that 3c is genuine, what does it grade G06 ?

Such an example must be very rare, much rarer than doubled dies.

Yet, it's fetched half the book value for normal coin in that condition. I think that buyer got a bargain.

Well that's fair - IF it's genuine, only one side has numismatic value!

Unless I'm totally crazy, that 3c looks like a genuine full brockage to me, which is valuable error.

It's just too deep and even IMHO. And the gunk in the incuse lettering is just too perfect. But maybe I should post it separately and ask the error people who know what they are looking at to weigh in...

BStrauss3,
That seems a good idea.
