Worse Ebay Listing Error - Coin Community Forum

Or, add a comment on what you have seen. A. A 1/4 oz (0.25 oz) gold coin listed as a 1/25 oz, (0.04 oz) coin. True size determined from image and the speed the auction was cancelled after I emailed the seller. B. A 1/10 oz Pt Maple Leaf called a 1/10 oz silver coin. Seller said would leave up and expect bidders to be fair. C. A $3 gold piece listed as a 3 cent silver piece. D. A Trade dollar (counterfeit) that had a date prior the the country being formed. Nathancrh1 Pillar of the Community Canada 785 Posts	Posted 01/15/2014 6:46 pm A & B are mistakes, pretty bad but I can see how they happen (A is very close in size and For B the coins are the same colour). The Trade dollar I wouldn't consider an auction mistake but a counterfeiters mistake. Now for C, I can't see that happening, unless he mixed up the photos I don't have any idea how the seller could have mixed the two up. They aren't even remotely the same! C gets my vote for sure. Henry M Smith Valued Member United States 337 Posts	Posted 01/15/2014 11:17 pm To clarify how C happened, a seller was listing many coins, and listed a 3 cent piece, then listed a $3 gold coin without changing categories, so it just popped up when I searched 3 cent pieces. The result is the seller got a very low amount for what was sold, about 25 - 50% of the value. Report this Post to the Staff
