This is basically the conclusion I arrived at when thinking this over. I have to say that I think I made the right decision to go with the Kennedy half right now. I have the first four coins in the album, and I'm excited about the journey I'll take with this set. There are a LOT of dates/mint marks to obtain, and this is a good thing. Again, this endeavor is simply for the joy of assembling a complete set- the joy of coin collecting. I want to take my time with it. I hope to learn a lot.

It begins........

Nice deal, the key dates will be the modern silver proofs.

Absolutely. Right now, I'm obtaining decade sets that are still in the original mint cellophane. It is the cheapest way to get those in BU condition that I have seen, at least on ebay. The clad and silver proofs will require extra care and scrutiny. I don't really want to buy proof sets just to get the Kennedy half, so more than likely I'll be purchasing those raw and in the best condition possible. I added a 70's decade set (P&D) to the album this week, along with a '64, a '66 SMS, and some late 70's proofs. So far, every coin in the album has been opened from OGP. Oh what fun this is. . . .
