I am guessing the people in this area may have experience of cleaning with both?

Basically, everywhere I have looked seem to have De-ionized water instead of Distilled.
I am told that for most uses, De-ionized water does the same, its just cheaper.
Does anyone know if it will do the job for cleaning coins?
I don't want to jeopardize my first bundle using the wrong water?

Anyone have experience with both or would advise not?

Thanks

In the UK, it seems impossible to find DW (probably cheaper to set up a retort and make it yourself). Luckily, the use of DW in this hobby is to ebb out the chloride ions which cause bronze disease, so DI works fine and its what I use.

There is a worry with it, in that it can have bad things in it and still be 'dionised', but it shouldnt and so far I've had no issues with it and successfully treated pretty major BD with it. I also clean all my coins in it and havent found any BD outbreaks.

I could only get DW on the internet and it was very expensive. I got deionised from the garage for car batteries. A lot cheaper and does the job just as well.

strange that you guys can't find DW in the Uk, it's all over the place over here in the states. I can get it for a dollar a gallon (or a bit less) and 3 places near me that I know of, and I live in a small town.

maybe you should go into buisness for yourselves!
