I just got several lots of AE's today and about 40 of them are silvered. While not really from a hoard as far as I know (but it is possible given the state of preservation and homogenous makeup) I thought they made a pretty sight. They are Constantinian bronzes, mostly from eastern mints (mainly Antioch and Alexandria) and mostly IOVI and campgate types; but there are some nice SECVRITAS from Helena and a few VIRTVS EXERCIT also.

Quote: LEt me know if theres any SMH campgates in that. There were two, one Licinius II and the Constantine II example pictured below. It is RIC VII Heraclea 37, with an unlisted officina of A. It's not the first known example, but still not in RIC. So far it's the second not in RIC I have found, the other was a Helena from Antioch.

Very interesting, I've never seen Constantine II in that form from Heraclea, doesn't fit into the Chronology I've been working on. Must be from before Constantine I died - theres a pretty good smooth transition from I to II, even with the change of bust size. Perhaps it was an error - its been suggested that the newbie die cutter started with the legends, moved onto the reverse design and only then to the imperial bust - perhaps someone put the wrong legend on.

Quote: perhaps someone put the wrong legend on No, the coin was issued from 318- 320 and there is no reason to believe otherwise as coins of Licinius Jr and Crispus were also issued from this series.

I'll have to see about picking up some of these when you list them on your Vcoins store.
