My feeling is that this "stuff" is always going to be "melt value"...down the road.

Too many products coming out and none of it will ever be rare...............but still nice to look at and then pass it on..........for some next generation..of a non-collector..to melt..........

Here is another way to look at it. We have all bought some trinket or gift to stick on our or someone else's fireplace for 50 bucks at some point only for it to wind up at a garage sale a few years down the road for a buck. At least with a coin you have some value going forward. Not to say that some modern coins don't turn a profit, they do, but if you want investment, especially now, buy Maple Leafs or numismatically significant coinage.

This coin hit $200 on ebay at one point? All I know is that RCM ruined this series with a poor second coin.

I agree with the majority that:
1) Too many coins (too many design/large mintage) released by RCM
2) The 2nd coin just ruined the series

Btw, when did this coin hit $200? The most I saw was average around $150 or so.....

Even now some are listed for $200. Like this one:

Of course, none are selling at that price now. But when it was hot, it consistently sold in the $150-$200 range.

The glass Ladybug had a Trends of $700 last December.
The latest issue (March 11-24) has it up to $800.

So, some NCLT is doing OK.

Oh, for sure. And the first GITD dino will almost certainly always trade well above its initial list price. But it *has* dropped a fair bit from its height of a year or so ago. And the 2nd and 3rd dinos in the set can easily be found at list price--for example J and M Coins is selling both right now--and probably lower if you're patient on ebay auctions.

Another example is the 1998 Lunar (The first coin in series). Around $500 in it's hay day and some still listed at that price but most are selling at well below $200 these day.
