I have my own excel sheet but, I rather use a software package with built in databases.

I read some posts here about a few different software but some them went out of business some had sub par websites that made me question if they even real?

I collect mostly US coins

mostly Lincoln cents, wheats, memorials & shields
Also Indian Heads and Flying Eagles
I also collect some Mercury dimes, and Buffalo nickels

And I collect alot of error coins

I want a way to track coin inventory amount paid and grades

Are you handy with Access?

I never used it but I make websites and have design gui for dozens of programs and iphone and android apps so I know some programming I could make a app but I don't want to create the database so I rather just get a all set solution.

Goal is to just do the data entry and store based on location listed in the database.

so I can easily find any coin and pull up the premium I paid for it. That way I can pull up the information accurately because there are a lot of little things that could go wrong,

I'm personally not aware of an off-the-shelf software solution, but there may be something. The reason I mention Access is that the 2007 and 2010 versions have canned templates that you might want to explore. I was thinking that MS might have a template for uploading employee pictures, etc. and that with some work, you might be able to spin something without too much effort that would do a better job of cataloging and storing pictures.

It might be something I'll explore in the near future. But let's see if the community has an OTS solution that's reasonably priced.

There are a bunch of over the counter software I found these two CoinManage 2013, Exact Change. But I imagine the people here must of tried them all and have some expert opinion on which ones worth getting?

I've used Exact Change before - bought it a few years ago. It's pretty good, and the developer is pretty responsive when emailed with questions. Then I had an issue where the software wouldn't register when I upgraded to Windows 7 and he was great about getting it back up and running. It has a lot of pre-populated images and value lists and you can also add your own and create custom reports.

Always remember to think outside the box, unless it's a proof set or a litter box...

I use Ant Movie Catalog, I assume you can still download it free but I just have an old copy that I move with my thumb drive. I think it was an open source thing from someone in Denmark or Finland maybe. I've used it with windows 98, XP, Vista and 8.

Works great for me, you can upload images easily, it has year and producer or year and Mint as I call them, the place for actors is where I put which president or king or other person or symbols are on the coin.

Video format... well that is silver content

Category, language, source, media label, country and two different places for a title, original title and translated title. It even has two nice big sections called Description and Notes. Plus tons of other categories too.

I've used it to catalog coins, computer games and yes even movies

Access is great and usually free if you have it with Windows. It does require a learning curve, but there is a great tutorial app for iPads/iPhones which explains the basics with videos.

A price database is a bug, not a feature. It won't be accurate.

So when you say "with coin images" you mean pre-loaded (stock, sample) images of the coins? How detailed?

Problem is what you are asking for - along with 'current' prices - is the expensive part. Any fool can make a database/program, with a little skill even a workable one. But tracking down 100s or 1000s of legal images to use (or taking the photos yourself, which means finding/borrowing 100s of 1000s of coins) - that takes WORK and work means $$$$ in the price.

Price tracking is worse, not only do you need the information, you need to keep it up to date. That's what took MWP down - the author (supposedly, was never proven but rather than argue he shutdown the business) had a personal account with one of the biggies and was using it to pull updated prices.

Say you like NumisMedia - http://www.numismedia.com/fmv/price...spfull.shtml - they make the information available for free on the web, even have a little widget that lets you put their prices on your website. But that way they get to show ads and pay for it. Or you join, pay a monthly fee (and an additional fee to post their data on your website)...

Remember: If you aren't PAYING for a service, YOU are the product

I like "Coin Manage". It has preloaded images for many series, and you can very simply add your own photos. It tracks what you are missing from each series, purchase price, source, it can track your sales and profits. In fact, when you are looking at the list of what you are missing from a series, there's a button that takes you to ebay listings for items you need.

6 main selling points for ANT...

1. It's Free
2. pre-loaded images are not yours, I just use don's Coin World and am working on replacing as I post my own pictures here.
3. It's FREE
4. prices jump all over the place, unless buying or selling I really don't care and at the time or sale/purchase I can look it up myself.
5. IT'S FREE
6. The money you save from not buying other software can go out on MORE COINS

After reading this I decided to download and try that movie database program from Ant discussed above. I have to say it's pretty great. Let's you add the pictures in as well. It probably helps that I'm pretty comfortable with computers so was able to sort of customize it just the way I like it.
