Maybe you guys can help me here, please. I have been eyeing this coin for a few days. First time around it was listed at $99.00US or BIN $149.00US. So I was watching it hoping to sneak in last minute and get it at $99.00US. Within a few hours, the seller adjusted the price to be $299.00US to start or BIN $499.00US - when I saw that I lost my interest. Browising around just now I see that coin is now listed at $129.00US, no BIN option.
So, what is happening to this coin / seller?
Thanks in advance!

It's not a variety that has a specific price list for it in Charlton or http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins...nt-1858-1859 so I would guess the seller is second-guessing themselves a bit on how much to charge for it. Personally I might give it a slight premium over a regular Narrow 9 but I wouldn't consider paying double to triple for it.

Thanks KUH_85. So your estimate would be somewhere near $50-$70?

I spent some time reading around various sources on 1859 cent variations. The double punched 5 on an otherwise common narrow 9 shows no premium when compared with other major variations. Based on that, and the value of an AU and MS60 narrow 9, I would say around $50 CAD.

Thank you Osiris! Based on the opinion provided by Kuh_85 and yourself, it seems the seller has no idea how much he wants for this coin.

I can understand how the seller might have problems finding a starting price for something that isn't quite yet well known in terms of population or scarcity. I have a duplicate of a Victorian twenty-five cents variety that has been recently discovered which I thought of using in trade and have no idea what it might be worth.

I agree, overpriced. A 50 dollar coin. And 20 bucks shipping is too much.

@JeyRey2000: would you feel comfortable if someone actually bid $299 on your coin? Don't get me wrong; it is your coin and that gives you the right to establish the price. But your "all in good fun" could have set some new collector back by $299.

Actually I would not feel bad at all because there is no assigned value to these coins. On the other hand why not ask all the collectors who have purchased an improperly labelled coin if they feel bad when they buy an 1859 wide 9 and it's actually a DP#1. Or ask cdn coin if they think the price tag on their EF40 double 5 is too high? A coin is worth at much as someone wants to pay for it as long as the seller is being honest in the description. Just my 2 cents!

ebay is full of people trying to buy low and sell high, some of my coins I sold to another seller I have seen them go for triple of what he paid, its all about timing I post mine at buy now or best offer,i had coins going for 150 and sold them for 30 so I don't care what someone does with their prices it is always up to the buyer how much he is willing to give, buy now or best offer, best way to sell takes away all the lowballers,,,,,,,,,,

I delisted my item to ditch all the unwanted traffic. Bid or don't bid but look at my feedback and see I am a good seller! I've seen these coin between VF and EF listed for 100-250 dollars so you judge! Also look at trends for narrow 9 AU coins . The coin is also certified already so no second guessing required! If I decide to jack up the price again I will when I feel like it! Maybe I think it's worth 250 and was being a super nice guy lowering to 99.

Thanks folks!
