Quote: In the email from my representative is indicated 3 of 4: Thanks, I missed that. Just re-read the e-mail and note they are saying the Glass Frog is the 4th in the series. But they previously defined the series as glass insects.... Again, they are playing fast and loose with the word 'series'. Gotta love marketing spin.

Now if we look back at the 3 Maple Canopy coins that were released, it is not hard to see that the 2nd and the 3rd coins actually have the same style and were done by the same designer. So instead of saying the 2nd coin (Autumn) is the oddity, it is the first one that doesn't fit with the other two.

Then why did the RCM use Emily Damstra to design the fist coin of the series? No continuity or logic to a 4 coin series.

No, here in opposite. I believe, Emily started and planned to continue the series design, but due to some circumstances, she left it (or Mint decided this). What do you think guys about "Seven Sacred Teaching" coins? Except the fact that cheap (confirmed cardboard box) has nice point on it? And the Platinum coin: less attractive design from all this set? The 1/2kg coin (unusual weight for RCM ) might be the hit, with popular and nicely done theme, plus limited mintage of 1.000 . I think will be fast sellout here and immediate raise in price in couple of hundreds...The coin is so good - like a Snowy Owl, but more reachable.

My problem with the kilo and 1/2 kilo coins is that they never adjusted back the prices. Silver hit $40 or so an ounce, they jacked up the kilo coins to over $2000, and now they want for 1/2 kilo, what they used to charge for the kilo - when Silver has come back to near $20/oz. Same with the golds. The mint is speculating that the established prices of these metals are what they peaked at 2 years ago. You used to be able to buy a 1/25 oz from the mint for about $79, (which today is still a good markup) but that's what they charge now for 0.5 grams Outrageous mark ups in my opinion, and I'm back to the bullion market, and avoiding numismatics - unless something really appeals to me.

Yeah they changed the name of the Glass insect series so they could add the frog. Should of just started a new series. And yeah glad I sold my Maple canopy's before this next one came out. Would maybe deter people from wanting them. I cant believe RCM ruined the Canopy series like that.....

The RCM is a crown business with the intent to make money by appealing to the majority, not pleasing Joe Nobody. Customer service at the mint is not unlike the ministry of transportation, service Ontario or any offer government agency.... You can't get a lisence, a passport or Canadian coins anywhere else. Complaining to the RCM does nothing. They don't care anymore.

Take a look at annual mint report. They are making a killing. Also, read the fine print when ordering coins. It says something like "we reserve the right to limit quantities, charge 10+ times the value of the metal content, change the names of our series of coins, turn frogs into insects, reintroduce the same coin but call it different by changing the date, and change anything else we want whenever we want...."

I don't need collector coins - or at least I tell myself that I don't need them.

About a year ago the butterfly glass coin created many pages of response, this frog coin barely a fraction of last years interest. The RCM marketing has underestimated it's collector base, unlike MTO, or passport office, you have no other choice, with the RCM, we can simply stop purchasing poorly designed overpriced coins.

You don't have to get a drivers license or a passport, you choose to. Same as buying these coins. (Legally, there are ways to drive and travel without getting a drivers license or passport by the way.)

^^^ I agree, they may not care but it will effect there sales. I'm for one not going to purchase the new canopy coin and the last one either. I'm sure other feel the same way. The maple canopy spring sold out instantly, I bet this one will not
